A couple of suggestions....

Anubis Gate - Progressive Power Metal Band out of Denmark. What little i've heard sounds great. I hope to get to listen to more of them in the future. Here's a link to check out a couple tunes. http://www.myspace.com/anubisgate

Mind's Eye - Progressive Metal Band from Sweden. Absolutely awesome! This is another band i need to definitely check more into. Great Melodies. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=169280677  Cool

Seraphim - Power Metal from Taiwan. The music sounds pretty awesome. An angelic female voice. With some growls added here and there. Sounds pretty awesome! It looks like they are planning on hitting my area for a tour next year....count me in.  Cool http://www.myspace.com/theofficialseraphim

Sirenia - A Gothic Metal band featuring a female vocalist...of course.  Pretty good sounding. Definitely sounds like something you would like Amir.  Wink http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=82394503

Turisas - Very Epic Metal. Soooooooo Epic. Just go take a look at these guys for yourself. Very Awesome! Those songs on their page sound amazing. I'll look further into it.  Cool http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=57329362

I thought i had mentioned them to you before.  Embarrassed I used the search option and typed in the band name and it came up with "0" results. Oh Well. Must have spelled it wrong or something.

Shocked Missed Turisas/Iced Earth.....what a shame. Don't you just hate when work gets in the way of the more important things in life (Like METAL!!!). Like a couple of weeks ago i had to miss Therion in my area.  Sad I couldn't afford to miss any more work, and it just happened to fall on a Tuesday.....which obviously is a bad night for me. Also i will have to miss Nightwish in a month or so.  Cry It's a real shame that work must interfere as it does.

Also.....

New Eyefear sounds awesome!!! I remember their US debut performance at BARfest. They tore it up! I would like to see their latest make it on ERR one day. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=42165624. <----You can hear four tunes from "A World Full of Grey". They are a great crossover band. They have alot of progressive elements yet have a very powerful vocalist and have that power metal sound at times as well.  Cool  I think i have mentioned this before, but i was listening to them a little and had to bring it up once again.

Progressive Power Metal - not an oxymoron!

Just a quick note for future reference and fixing - I noticed earlier this week that there are two tracks by Communic in the playlist that have no title - or are called Untitled Hidden Track.  They are the demo versions of "Conspiracy in Mind" and "Ocean Bed", which ended up as regular tracks on their first CD, and which were included on the limited edition of "Waves of Visual Decay".  The shorter track (6:40) is Ocean Bed, the longer one (7:51) is Conspiracy in Mind.

Also, I heard what was listed as "Evil" by Dionysus the other day - the song that in fact played is called "March For Freedom" from their "Anima Mundi".  There is no track called "Evil" on that CD.

Try out the band Athlantis, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=201056045. From Italy with only one disc out. They sound like pretty good power metal. The first song on the page titled 'Voices'  features Rob Tyrant (Labyrinth vocals).  The other vocalists featured in the project are also very good.  Cool

Another worthy listen is Darkager, out of Brazil....this Power/Thrash Metal band has a female singer (although she sounds like a man). They have a demo out and will be releasing a full disc soon. The music sounds top notch. But i'm not sure where i stand with the vocals. Anyways.....check them out, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=197721378.

Check out Human Factor! They sound pretty good as well. Definitely ERRish. Soaring Vocals, and chops from hell!!! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=63173531

:-)  I went ahead and removed the restriction.

Everyone is now allowed 2 requests every 30 minutes, with no per-day limit.

The way I figure it, if somebody likes the station enough to listen so much that they request more than 20 songs a day.... Why stop them?  :-)

Good Thinking.  Wink  That has happened to me twice in the past. Somedays i just wanna lay around and listen to music....so i do. I was like what's this?..... And my brother was at my house one time, and he just looked over at me like to say...."how long have you been listening?"   Grin

To get back on topic....

DARKWATER!!! I cannot get enough. I can't believe that "Calling the Earth to Witness" is a debut album. It is unreal. Quality top notch. For anyone into Progressive/Melodic Metal at it's best...http://www.myspace.com/darkwaterofficial. The tune "The Play Pt. 2" is owning me lately. Check it out!!!

I know i have suggested them in the past but i need to make sure that everyone who might like 'em gives them a listen....Great, Great Stuff.  Cool

Progressive Power Metal - not an oxymoron!

I had yet another interesting experience with the iPod today, this time in regard to Darkwater.  I heard "Again", immediately followed by "Habit" today, which was then followed by Circus Maximus' "A Darkened Mind".

I was fully prepared to give Darkwater all the chance in the world - I very much like most prog metal, and I really enjoy their "All Eyes On Me".  However, as "Again" kept going, and was then followed by "Habit", I kept being thrilled by the technical mastery of the instruments, and the complexity of the songs - but was left feeling a need for more.  I pondered it, and when CM came on, it became clear - I had lost the plot during both songs.

Darkwater, certainly in "Habit", seem to indulge in complexity for complexity's sake - not to drive the song forward.  There were sudden tempo shifts that made no musical sense - they interrupted the feeling, the story, if you will, and simply took the song onto one detour after another, without returning to a unifying theme or end.

Circus Maximus, while in a shorter song (however, this is also true for their epic "The 1st Chapter"), started a story, and were able to keep my attention on the plot for the entire time - which was lacking in "Habit".

Before I get accused of having a short attention span, my favorite epic track of all time has a length of 1:00:06 - that's one hour and 6 seconds, and I'll let you guess what track that is.

What do you think?  And fabio, I am not trying to call you out - that Darkwater CD as a whole is very, very good - but this experience bothered me enough to write it up.

Are you saying that the music does not convey they story of the lyrics? Because if this is what your saying then honestly i really have just never noticed. I think the lyrics are very well written. Very meaningful, each song tells story of it's own. And as you said instrumentally top notch. And when you say this...."without returning to a unifying theme or end", i guess this really doesn't bother me to an extent. While i love a song that tells me a story and doesn't stray to far, i also like some unexpected twists and turns regardless of when or where or if ever it returns to the lyrical plot.   Grin

fabio - Your points are well taken, as I think that you have illustrated that you look for different things to take away from your songs than I may.  In that you are perfectly justified, and there is no right or wrong answer - and my point was a very personal observation of why that particular song did not work for me.  Having said all that, I may change my mind altogether upon some more spins of that song and CD!

^^^It's possible that your opinion may change. And i'd say likely.  Grin

A cool band that i came across today......well i liked them anyway http://www.myspace.com/fairtomidland.

They are called Fair to Midland. I would be driving a very tough argument if i said they were ERR material.....but nonetheless, i liked their stuff. Maybe you will too. Kind of Folky Rock/Metal with a touch of progressiveness. Check 'em out.
