Anyone else out there enjoy listening to Porcupine Tree?  I particularily like the Deadwing album.  It would be sweet if we could get some of them on here  Grin

Yeah! Porcupine Tree is good stuff. They have their mellow songs but there are intense prog-rock on the verge of prog-metal ones as well. In addition to Deadwing I really like In Absentia and Fear of a Blank Planet. I also like Stupid Dream but that has to be way too mellow as far as ERR standards are concerned.

Orion's Reign - Karma (Kamelot Cover) - I really liked this cover, well done Grin
Orion's Reign - Darkness comes - Good song but not something I would normaly listen too.
Orion's Reign - Vehemens Nox Noctis - Liked it.
Orion's Reign - Nuclear Winter - Liked it.
Orion's Reign - Beyond Eternity Part 2 - Didn't really like the vocals on this song.
Orion's Reign - Amidst the Battle - I like the duel vocals, good song.

Over all opinion - The songs I liked the best were too growly for ERR. Something that is a constant issue here.  The other songs were okay but I had some dislike with the vocals when trying to hit the higher notes.  This is just my opinion.  That said this is still an album I could listen too.

Thank you for your review ! The album though is not growly at all,  just some parts of songs in order to give the appropriate feeling and atmosphere...!

Yeah I was playing the safe side it might fit in with Amorphis and Haggard.  Has enough quality on it's own that the mood setting vocals won't tip the scale.  The only thing Kailef who owns the station hates unclean vocals.  Personally listening to the music a second time, I'm actually liking it better.

I think Northern Kings has been discussed before.  If I remember correctly Kai didn't want them because he thought the 80s songs were cheesy enough without being covered by a bunch of metal vocalists.  Personally I don't have any problem with metal covers, but I'm also not the boss.

Nope, every song they sing on both albums is a cover.

You'd think that a band with an all-star cast like the Northern Kings, would put out quality songs...maybe they are, maybe they aren't...  but, I gave them a listen to, twice, a few months back and thought they wouldn't be a that good of a fit here, at ERR.  I mean, they are okay, but not quite up to ERR's standards.

Just need Pegazus, Demoniac, Lord and Lightforce - then we will have all the Australian power metal bands on ERR.  Grin

I'd like to suggest a Finnish band called Sturm Und Drang. Really good stuff!
