After Forever's "Decipher" seems to be the next AOTW. It seems nobody else wants to throw any suggestions into the hat. So unless there are other sugestions in the next 12 hours or so........
Also Amir, try adding something like this into the part that gets copy and pasted for AOTW:
**Also, if you have any suggestions or wishes for the next weeks "Album Of The Week". Be sure and let us know via message board.**
Something like this may help bring a couple suggestions a week.

Alright, I will add that part too. Let's see if we can get more people involved in AOTW

Once I get the AotW automated, how frequently do you think a song should play? Once every hour? Hour and a half? Two hours?

I guess every 1 or 1.5 hour would be nice. A CD has about 10 songs and with 1 hour period it will play the whole album for 10 hours which is I think fine. This will be 2 times a day roughly and 14 times a week which is a nice coverage of the whole album.
Also it would be great if it could be preceded by a sweeper announcing it.
What do you think folks, Fabio ?

After Forever's "Decipher" seems to be the next AOTW.
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to Fabio!
I was thinking... seeing that there have been so many additions to the db
, you're not obliged to choose After Forever
!
There are so many new albums that we are spoilt for choice!!

Great idea! I had the same when I saw noone did reply to Amir's post!

I also say once an hour. Or maybe 1.5 hours. No more time than that though. I think Amir is right on.
Also about the sweeper/AOTW inrtos by bands.......
I guess i need to figure out how it should be gone about. Kailef? I'd like to know what i'm doing when i approach a band with the idea.
*just an example* Say i send a comment to Iron Savior and Piet says he would be glad to do something like that for the station, what then? How do you get them recorded? I'd like to do one too! How should i go about it?
The automated AOTW is gonna rock!!! Hope we can get it up and going soon!

Thank You Earendil! And yes, hopefully this addition to the dedication will help bring in some suggestions.

I guess having a sweeper/announcer for AOTW will boost its popularity and hence we will see more people involved. I\m going to setup the After Forever's Decipher for this week.

I guess you have to ask them to record an announcement for our album of the week and write a few sentences about the radio and AOTW to make sure they know what we are talking about. You can also point them to the forums where we discuss each band and album of the week.
I think the sweeper should be around 10 to 15 seconds long, and I guess they can themselves figure out what to say in it. I guess the format of the recording is not so important as far as it sounds OK (MP3 128bps should be fine).
But of course Kailef can say more here.

I also say once an hour. Or maybe 1.5 hours. No more time than that though.
I think now that we have to go with 90 min (1.5 hour) durations. The reason is that due to regular rules of ERR, a band can be played once every hour. So if we set the AOTW to play every hour, then this masks out possibility of playing other songs of this band. This might not be pleasant for someone. So if we set it to be 90 min duration, there is a gap which people are able in principle to request other songs of that band.
What do you think guys?

Good thinking Amir!
That is a very valid point. Every Hour and a Half gets my vote too then. I can't wait!

I sent a couple of bands messages asking if they would like to do a sweeper for the station....both said, YES!
I don't wanna ruin it for you guys (unless you want me to), by telling you who i got lined up thus far. It would probably be alot better to be surprised the first time you hear them. I only asked two bands and got two green lights.....awesome!!! I figure i will ask a couple bands every couple days. We'll see how much support we can gather. It's looking great thus far.

Shortly after the station went up, I asked Nightwish for one, they said they would but never got back to me. And I was SO psyched up about it.
Ah well, hopefully you'll have better luck, heh.
And really, 2 hours might be better for AotW... think about this, what if its an album that you personally don't really care for - how often do you want to be stuck listening to it?
Not to mention that - well, with the current AotW as an example - After Forever has 4 other good albums (AND an EP!) to check out, and it gets annoying when you keep requesting only to see 'this artist was recently played' or 'already in queue', heh.

Nice touch, I would also say that 1.5 ~ 2 hours is the choice then. Let's see when Kailef is able to set us up for it.
