Alright here's the deal. We have stopped the "Album of the Week" feature for a bit because we were waiting for some of our listeners to record some intro's that could be played prior each song played from the album of the week. But this morning i realized, i don't think we ever really made it known that this is what we were waiting for. So we're asking you now to grab your microphone and get recording. We are probably looking for an intro 5-15 seconds long. You can add some music to the background if you'd like, jazz it up any way you'd like. I'm not really sure what you can do, but this is the place to generate some ideas. Something simple might be best.....here's an example:

"Greetings ERR, This is Fabio Hailing from California! And for this week's album of the week we are featuring Symphony X's "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy", Crank it Up!!!"

Anyways, something like this would be perfect. This is your chance to get involved a bit, and also to pick out the next album of the week. Since it is you who will decide which album(s) to record an intro for. So pick an album, grab your microphone...and get to work.

Send you recordings here (unless there is somewhere else Kailef would like them sent - just chime in Kai!): submissions@epicrockradio.com

And hopefully we will get some great recordings coming in. Oh by the way, while you got the microphone out....how about recording a station identifying sweeper? Get to work all! I'll be picking myself up a mic later today. Look forward to hearing you all on ERR!  Cool

I have an Album of the Week file in to Kailef, he said it could use a little cleaning up (I was out of town when I recorded it and didn't have the audio program with me).  Also recorded a sweeper track, but I'm about to be out of pocket through the weekend... I'll try to get it ready on Monday and send that in, too. Smiley

Yeah, I don't get it either - I figured people would jump at the chance to do this. *shrug*

Album of the Week -----> "Feature Album"

I just had a thought for a new "Album of the Week" like feature. Instead of having the album played every so often and playing an intro, what about just featuring a new album every week, essentially an "AotW", but instead of Kailef having to set up the new album every week and it being automatically played, we have a section on the mainpage dedicated to it with access to request it on that dedicated page. We could all pitch in with the info for each featured album just as we used to when we tried this a while back in the forums. People could then check out the featured disc as they wanted to. It wouldn't be put into the queue unless it was requested. In the designated section there would be a bunch of info on the album/artist, perhaps including a place for listeners to submit their thoughts (don't know how realistic this is).  Just an initial idea that popped into my head as i saw people discussing an album and the details surrounding it in the shoutbox recently. This would be a cool way for people who were interested to learn about a different album each week, without forcing people to listen to a song from an album every 90 minutes with SAM to blame.

I'm sure this idea could be made awesome if everyone around here threw in their thoughts and requests for such a feature.  Cool

I'm all for it Fabio, I liked the AOTW idea and with current traffic on the site, Feature Album would be much better.

Kailef, what can we do? Is it possible?

I suspect that it would be possible, yes - Although we'd need for our Master Programmer Extraordinaire do up some code that would do the job....

I don't know how much trouble it would be, so if we're going to pursue the idea, we should definitely make sure that it's something we all want to do.

ooooooh  Shocked i reallly like this idea. It's great for people like me who only know a limited selection of stuff on ERR, and it doesn't 'wear out' or overplay the album. (unless its just a really good album thats already overplayed  Wink )

this may be the wrong place to present this idea, but the whole "album of the week" gave me this idea so here goes: What about a song of the week? Like two songs paired up in some kind of vs. match, and err listeners vote on which one they think is better? yay? nay? insight?

I was about to say "Instead of a vote, whichever receives more requests that week." But then I realized that would lead to a couple of songs being annoyingly overplayed for a week. At least it would only be a week and then 2 new songs...

Well i don't like the idea of two songs battling it out for a week. The reason being exactly what Guidrummist pointed out. I hear the same songs enough now as it is.....i could only imagine how bad it would be if we were encouraging songs to be overrequested.

I knew what you were saying. I was kinda responding to Guidrummists thought. I think your idea would be cool for a every now and again event.....in other words, Kailef setting it up with a microphone or a sweeper announcing it and then playing the two songs followed by some sort of live voting. Now that would be a cool event. But to have two songs being requested all week by people trying to make their votes.....as you said, people might request them "ALOT". And in turn, we would hear them "ALOT".
