As i just finished watching the first Matrix film for what seems like the thousandth time, i thought an off topic thread about movies could be cool.

So share whatever movie you've watched recently and some brief thoughts on it.

Or share all-time favorite movies that you think ERR listeners should watch.

Anything relating to movies really.....this is the place!  Cool

Just earlier today i was thinking about how i wanted to watch "The Big Lebowski". Something in a song reminded me of the film. A must watch movie if you're asking me.

just watched "Tin Cup." I had seen it before but man forgot how good it was! He throws around the golf comments about everyday life. Like if the main character (Costner) is having a tough time he will say something like "i'm laying 5 on a par four and I've got a sidehill lie." Just loved this movie!

Nice. Will have to keep an eye out for that movie. Saw it once many years ago. Don't remember too much about it. Will give it another viewing when i get the chance.  Smiley

Well, I'm not much of a movie fan but I'll throw in my comments anyway.

Last movie I watched was "Wall-E". It was decent; could have used better music though.

Last movie I saw in the theater was "Star Trek". It was decent; could have used better music though.

If I had to pick a favorite movie it would be "The Lord of the Rings". I've probably watched it three times (this is a lot for me; usually can't watch anything more than once). Could have used some better music though.  Tongue

Another good one was the original "Transformers" movie (yes, the cartoon). It had great music, I even bought the soundtrack...twice. (Ok, ok, it was on sale for $15 or 2 for $18, and my friend loves it too, gave the second copy to him).

Love that film. The song that is played during the "dodgey bowling innuendo dream" bit is on Driver 2 as the final credits lol. Not a bad song tbh Smiley

I personally love teh film CON AIR. Its such a brilliant film Nick Cage starred in. It has action, a pretty decent storyline and no cheesey dialogue in it either. Perfect "lads film" IMO Smiley

Lord of the Rings are my other fave films as well. Just a film made of pure winness Cheesy (and the recent remake of King Kong as well)

The final film I'm gonna mention here (for now) would be TOTAL RECALL. Arnie has been in loads of great films, but this one takes the cake I think. Story is completely original (for the time it was released), yet still be all about the action. Dialogue from Schwarzenegger is never bad, his accent is brilliantly funny lol.

One of my favorite movies of all time, which was VERY highly underrated and never received the accolades that it so richly deserves in my opinion, is "Demolition Man".  Starring Sylvester Stallone, Westley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, and Denis Leary.

It came out in 1993, and I saw it in the theater[/b] three times, purchased it on VHS, and later on DVD.

If you haven't seen it... you really should.

A day after you posted this i saw "DM" was coming up on HBO. So i sat down and watched it. Agree with you about it being a really good movie. Probably hadn't seen it in almost 10 years. So it was nice to get to watch it again.

I'm a big movie fan! I feel that when I'm watching a movie, a good movie for that matter, that I escape reality for a couple of hours and that feeling relaxes me extremely!

Last movie I watched at the cinema was called "The proposal" with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It was fun, though I've watched funnier movies. Bullock and Reynolds were a good combination and time passed pleasantly.

Now for my favourite movies, I have a bunch but I'll try and remember a few I've watched withing the the past year to suggest to you guys. A great social romantic drama is "The notebook" (2004). For those of you who like to have a good cry from time to time this is a very touching story. Another social drama from 2008 is "Changeling" with Angelina Jolie in one of her best performances, in my humble opinion, ever!

These for now.. Cannot seem to recall anything else that has impressed me lately. I'll get back to you if I remember!  Wink

Demolition Man was great, the whole nostalgia for the past was hilarious! I remember watching it on HBO as well, years ago. Good stuff.

And I plead guilty for having watched 'The Notebook', but it had more to do with Rachel McAdams than anything else Wink

The last movie I watched was Iron Maiden's Flight 666. What an AMAZING movie; I only have more respect for the band, and I didn't know that was possible. The energy, the talent, the respect they have for the music and their fans. And Nicko! Tongue Still have the concert disc to go!

Had a few rare hours of free time mid week, and I saw Avatar.  Story is a bit predictable, but the special effects... really are special.  Never seen anything like it.  Gorgeous movie.

Did you see it in 3D ? Were you trying to swat invisible flies as well ? Tongue

Nope, I didn't see it in 3D - On purpose...  I figure, once I see it in 3D, I'll never want to see it "normally", so... I'd do it this way, and now I still have 3D to look forward to.  *grin*

Really liked Avatar! Sure, the plot was cheesy as hell, but the meticulous way in which Pandora and the Na'vi were designed was absolutely fantastic! And yeah, saw it in 3D. I still think 3D can be done better. (All the while appreciating the difficulty involved in coming up with a single standard... hats off to Cameron for doing what he's done).

Soo... what next? Really looking forward to Up in the Ar. Cheesy

I saw Avatar today in 3D.  I've actually never seen a 3D movie before. The 3D effect was OK but the movie would've been great without it. The movie stopped twice. Once after about 20 minutes and again with just about 15 minutes remaining, darn power cut. It's the CGI that makes this movie though, no wonder it took so long.
And it was great to see Sam Worthington as the lead, he's from my home town.
