RHAPSODY SYMPHONY OF ENCHANTED LANDS#2

For the past seven years or, to be more precise, since the opening tones of their sensational debut album, Legendary Tales, Rhapsody have been one of the most unusual phenomena of the current metal scene. The huge range of their creativity, the number of legendary compositions that the Italian band, with their primary members guitarist Luca Turilli and keyboarder Alex Staropoli, have released so far reached the climax with the new album Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret. A new saga has been born, one that takes the listener on a musical adventure featuring epic, fast metal tracks and sonic landscapes with stirring narrative. It is the debut of a new style of Heavy Metal music created by Rhapsody known as Film Score Metal. The massive production, led by Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli themselves was done in several studios throughout Europe; from England to Italy, from the Czech Republic and Belgium to Germany. Supported by appearances by more than a dozen international guest soloists and the entire Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra from the Czech Republic, a 50 piece choir as well as Christopher Lee - the grand seigneur of film and one of the most filmed actors in history, Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret will set the world of Symphonic Metal on fire.

so they're italian...that's what's wrong with the lead's voice...it's so irritating. it's like listening to a gerbil with a microphone. it's like listening to savage garden in double time. anyway, wow, i said a mouthful...hope you aren't offended too much

C'mon Spiznak, get "off the fence" and tell us what you really think
It is interesting though to compare and contrast how different nationalities pronounce and enunciate English when they sing in our own "mother" tongue.
I always enjoyed the way the Scorpions' lead singer pronounced words.
A Gerbil with a microphone conjures up too many images of Alvin, Theodore and Simon...oooo.
Actually, Savage Garden (whom I don't really like) did a fairly decent job with
good production and catchy pap/pop sounds.
Heavymetalgladiator: Do you have the brand new Rhapsody cd? What do you think of it?

Well I went out and bought the new Rhapsody of Fire cd. I will post some comments about it after I've listened to it a couple times. So far I am initially very impressed.

I miss the old Rhapsody. Not to say that I don't enjoy "Triumph or Agony" because I do. Though I think that it focuses to much on Fabio and his what I would call masterful vocals. Fabio is my first love in this Genre. I don't know what the person above is talking about. His voice is beautiful, it soars above the highest clouds at times while versital enough to be heavy as all hell at others. Sometimes I just wish they would go back to the Rhapsody of old, the Rhapsody that I first loved and the Rhapsody that helped pull me into this genre. I want Luca Turilli to come back to his senses and realize that we need him to sweep on the guitar in every song. Even his solo project has gone downhill IMO (reducing the vocals of Olaf Hayer.....what are you thinking? [I love his Vocals]). Focusing to much now on dramatic effect and not as much on super awesome epic power metal. It is good in a way to not do the exact same thing album after album but I say do not completely forget what got you to where you are today. I think it would be ideal for him to maybe combine these two styles of writing and make one kickass album. ?

Well don't take that spiznak serious, he was thinking we play death metal
that's why he was complaining about all power/symphony metal singers and musics.

I bought this album. I was SO disappointed. Listening to it makes me want to scream "SHUT UP!"
Because I want to hear the music, not hear a bunch of backstory and dialogue... if I want that, I'll go read a book.. watch Lord of the Rings trilogy.. play WoW or something. I like MUSIC.. again, MUSIC!... about fantasy worlds, kings and dragons and evil.. sure thing! But don't fill your CD talking about it, dammit.
Good example - track 2, I *LOVE* the intro, it makes me want to grab a double-sided battle axe and throw down with some creatures crawling out of hell! But midway through the song, we have to stop everything and listen to Christopher Lee talk some more. Didn't he just do that in the intro???
I want to rock out when I listen to music. It is mildly annoying to me when I'm listening to a good CD and I have to pause it when someone wants to talk to me. It's even more annoying when the talking is IN the CD. Way too distracting, stop talking, keep playing. :j
The music is good, there's just not enough of it between the talking parts. I bought the CD right after it came out, and have listened to it all the way through maybe twice, ever. I call it 'Books on Tape' and leave it on the rack, a shame, too.. since I was so excited over a new Rhapsody CD.
Oh well, I can always throw in Luca Turilli's "Prophet of the Last Eclipse" again, that one never gets old.

Wich is why I don't look at Rhapsody anymore when I'm browsing for some new CDs. It's a shame, like you said, as they have the potential to make me cream my pants.
Who knows, maybe this is a good thing too. It'll compensate for the overdose of Rhapsody I was inflicting upon myself when I was a teenager.
