Tough choices there. I'd be happy voting for any of the Van Canto covers. DT's Stargazer is epic. Gamma Ray's "It's a Sin" is great with the extra energy they bring that the original lacks. Not sure I've heard all of the BG covers listed.

About the only band I wouldn't vote for here are Helloween. I think the original is better than any of their covers I've heard.

I've already voted eagle...but I miss for example "Burn'' Jorn covering Deep Purple, also Axel Pudi Pell covering U2's "Beautifull day", Hammerfall covering Accept's ''Head over Heels" etc etc.

There are so many covers here on ERR that you can't put them all on your list..

I would delete all the Van CantNO covers  Grin Grin Grin

there are so many more, its hard to list them all

if i had to voce, i'd say Sonata's Still Loving You, and World in my Eyes.. though AF's The Evil that men Do is a close tie

I think you also missed "In the Air Tonight" the Phil Collins cover by Axel Rudi Pell.  Wait, is that considered a metal cover?  It's by a metal artist...

Iced Earth has a lot of Cover songs, just a couple I can think of off the top of my head are "Shooting Star" by Bad Company, "Number of the Beast" and "Hallowed Be They Name" by Iron Maiden, and "Screaming for Vengeance" by Judas Priest..... they even released an album called "Tribute to the Gods" that featured 11 covers, not to mention a couple covers here and there on other albums too

As much as I dislike Van Canto, I thought their rendition of The Bards Song was phenomenal.  I voted for it, and I'm surprised that nobody else did.

(Of course, I realize it's not exactly very 'metal' sounding.  But it IS epic.)
