RATE THE SONG ABOVE!
«
on:

Hey guys, hows it going? Alright, the point of this thread is pretty simple. Rate the song that is posted above you, on a scale from 1-10. If you have not heard the song LOOK IT UP!!! Feel free to say why you like, or dislike the song. Feel free to share any type of music, its not limited to the ERR list only. Next, post a new song for the next poster to look up. Finally, please do not flame or troll other's taste in music!!
And most importantly, have fun!
I got the idea for this thread from a gamers forum i frequent, and its a lot of fun, and a great way to discover new music.
Lets start with...hmm...Savatage- Handful of Rain
Happy posting!

This is a cool idea, I hope it catches on...
I had never heard the song before, so I youtubed it once, and after listening to it I think it was a nice song with a cool opening guitar part, but I'm not really into Savatage from what few songs I've heard. As far as semi-ballads like this go, it's not one of my favorites...but granted that's from one listen and probably not entirely fair to the song. But OH WELL! :-)
I think I would rate it a 5, but I give it an extra 1.5 for the awesome Manowar-ish album art, for a total score of 6.5.

Great idea this.
Being a lover for anything with classical elements, this is definitely one of those songs. The use of the keyboard gives it that classical feel yet the hard hitting drum beats and manic guitar riffs provide that lovely balance. The singers voice doesn't irritate at all and actually helps to carry that classical feel throughout the song. I would rate this song a 8.5 for its brilliant composition, delightful melodic tune & its extremely well done solos.

Okay, I'd have to give Hatchy's tune an 8 or 9/10, especially with Mike Baker on vocals (RIP).

I like this idea, although I guess I'm not completely clear on the instructions.
To, RATE THE SONG ABOVE, does this mean any song above or the post directly above? Because there are nothing but songs, "above"... as I don't see any songs below... yet.
And, if you do rate a song, are you also required to add one to be rated, as well?

I believe it makes the most sense to rate the song directly above, and also post a song for the next person to rate as well. That way there aren't double ratings and the game can go on perpetually if everyone is throwing out a new song after each rating. That being said, I could only make it through about 3 minutes of arrow's song before I couldn't stand the vocals anymore (not a fan of exclusively growly music), so hopefully someone else can give it a fair chance.

Yeah, when I first read Arrow's post, I thought it was meant to be the post directly above but had to be sure so that we all can travel the same road.
with that said... please, carry on

Okay, so, the official rules are, rate the song in the post above you, and then present a new song for the next person to rate.
Well, in the absence of a song to rate, I'll give one. Rate this:

That's Jorn Lande singing with Masterplan, on a song titled "Black in the Burn". Probably my favorite Masterplan track of all time.

Neverland - Reversing Time - 7/10 - I like the piano in this song.
Savatage - Handful of Rain - 2/10 - Never been a fan of Savatage.
Masterplan - Black in the Burn - 5/10 Never been much of a fan of Masterplan.
The one metal song that gives me shivers up my spine everytime I hear it would be Scorpions - Wind of Change.

I LOVE the Winds of Change. That's like an "all time favorite" for me. One of the greatest power ballads ever made, I think! 9/10.
Speaking of power ballads, rate this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYqWJQCptV0
That's Blind Guardian's "Nightfall", which is probably my favorite Blind Guardian song. The chorus where they just belt out "Niiiiight-Faaaaaaaaaalll!" blows me away.

Firstly, I agree about Winds of Change. I can't believe that song is 20 years old!
Nightfall by Blind Guardian. I think it's okay, maybe a 7/10 for me. BG is still on my list of bands to check out more, especially that album.
Now, rate this one which I think may be one of the very best songs by a band with a lot of good songs.

It's "The Clansman" by Iron Maiden and this one's not on ERR.

7/10 for The Clansman, good solid Maiden.
Btw guys, the idea is to rate the song posted above you, and give a new song for the next poster to rate. My aplogies for not making that clear.

Dark Obsession - 2/10. Freedom Call's old stuff is a lot better.
Whitesnake - Sailing Ships
David Coverdale's voice comes out great with this acoustic ballad.
