Wow! You've seen Haggard (how many guys and gals did they have up on the stage? The whole orchestra?)  and you're going to see Therion.  I envy you.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Blind Guardian will add a show in my area.

Yeah dude, that Haggard concert was awesome Cheesy, I enjoyed it lots, and they were there with the whole orchestra, the only missing one was one of their guitarists, I remember I counted them and it was something like 16 people there Cheesy , that was definetly a nice show to remember,

I'm also waiting for Therion, although they usually don't have an orchestra for live performances and play those classical parts from recorded material, but at least they bring a full choral Cheesy. If they let us, I will bring you some photos and videos Cheesy, though I have to buy a better digital camera Wink

And I really hope that BG will arrange a show in your area, I think they have to be also awesome on the stage.

Ah heck!  I just discovered that the Blind Guardian concert which had been scheduled for my area has been canceled (no wonder it hasn't appeared on the touring calendar at the BG official web site).  But guess what?  Some band named "Children of Bodom" will be chugging into town.  I assume that they're just a growling black or death Metal band.  Any of you recommend them?
The only upside in not going to live concerts is that it frees up more cash to buy cds.

I can't say anything, because I never listened black metal, but I bet there are some guys here who listen to them as well.

I see that you guys were discussind Children of Bodom. These guys are an awesome band if you don't mind some harsh vocals. They are really just like many bands played here on ERR (with harsh vocals).  But if you don't mind it then I strongly would recommend these guys. Known for their amazing keys these guys are all great musicians. Their guitarists are incredible. The first song I heard from them was one of their newer singles called "Trashed, Lost, and Strungout"......Amazing! I see that this last post was almost a month ago so I am assuming you missed the show but if you get another chance jump on it. I own two of their discs and plan on getting the rest of their collection.

Fabio, thanks for the info on Children of Bodom.... yeah they came through with Amon Amarth as their opening act.  Didn't see em.  I'm just probably not the kind of guy that could ever really get into Black Metal (probably cause of the lyrical content).  On the other hand... some of the melodies I've heard from Eniferum, Einjarar and especially Falkenbach (maybe these bands are more folkish Black Metal) I have appreciated... for me, so much is about melody.
I had been thinking about maybe giving Opeth or In Flames a listen... do you know anything about them?

Yeah I do and I don't really care for either. Much prefer Children of Bodom. I purchased the In Flames "Clarity" (newest release) because a friend of mine liked them and told me they were awesome. Didn't really do it for me. I think you should at least give them a listen, they make some incredible music. And anyways you won't even know what the lyrical content is because most of the time you can't understand any of the lyrics. I don't listen to many bands with harsh vocals but there is something about these guys. Give 'em a try. At their myspace page they have a few songs.

I will have to do that (the Myspace selections), cause I am really interested-- especially with Opeth.  I mean, every darn review one reads of their many discs makes them sound like the "second coming" and savior of all Prog Metal.
Thanks Fabio!

Your very welcome. Just giving you my two cents. Hope you enjoy. To be perfectly honest I have only heard a few Opeth songs but as I said I was not impressed. Maybe I should give them a fuller exam.
