I would like to share with all of you, my favourite collection of books, and documentaries based on metal music.
These books are worth reading, as they may give you a better understanding on how exactly Heavy Metal began, what it developed into, and the fans that listen to it. I would recommend these three books to anyone who is interested in furthering their knowledge on the genre.
Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal
By Ian Christe
Mean Deviation: Four Decades of Progressive Heavy Metal
By Jeff Wagner
Metal: The Defenitive Guide
By Garry Sharpe-Young
When it comes to documentaries, the most popular is Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, produced and directed by Canadian film-maker, Sam Dunn. Sam later went on to create Global Metal. Included are links to the trailers.
