Title: The Official "Introduce Yourself" Thread
Post by: i_am_fabio on January 09, 2009, 05:22:23 am
Greetings Friends!!!

This is the spot to reveal yourself to the ERR world. If you are a new listener then this is the perfect spot to introduce yourself and tell everyone a bit about yourself. If you a long time listener then this is the place to get to know your epic friends of ERR a little better and to welcome in all the new friends that are sure to come along.

With the rate that we are gaining listeners here at ERR I thought it would be good to have an official place where we can all learn about our fellow epic warriors.

Maybe list some personal info (name, location, etc.), when/how you found ERR, when/where you listen to ERR, maybe your music story......really any and everything you'd like to share.

I guess i'll start it off.....

My actual name is Rob. I live in Northern California in a house that i bought almost three years ago, living with my soon to be wife and two dogs. My dogs are big ERR fans!  ;D

I'm nearly 24 years old. Been listening to these styles of music since i was 19. My younger brother, "lucas_broom", is actually the one who showed me the way. He brought home some Rhapsody one day and i kinda made fun of him at first (not really giving it a chance)....then he showed me a song called "Sworn in the Metal Winds" by Lost Horizon. My life was changed forever.

I work the nightshift at a warehouse near my home. I get to listen to music there but unfortunatly i have no way of tuning in to ERR while there.....yet. So nearly all the times you see me hanging out with ERR i'm just hanging out at home trying not to spend my money and attempting to get some things done around the house (although usually i find myself just headbanging most of the time).  ;D

I stumbled upon ERR in early 2006. Didn't really introduce myself here until the end of 2006. I'm not sure exactly how long after that i contacted Kailef to see how i could help him out. Been helping out the best i can from then on. As spreading he joys of these genres is something I enjoy more than i can describe. There's nothing like showing someone a music world that they never knew existed.

I'm sure there is more that i could share, but give me a break it's currently 5:41am.  :) Maybe later i'll add to it a bit and throw a picture up so you can all see how epic i am!  ;D

Well then, I guess i'll toss myself out there on this, to help get the snowball rolling.

My name is Chris, I'm 28 years old born July 5th, 1980.  I am a former musician (with no official releases, i played for fun) with some experience playing Guitar, Bass Guitar, Tenor/Alto Saxophone and Keyboards/Piano.  While i dont play anymore, music is still a very big part of my life. I work at a hotel here in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where I get to listen to ERR and sit on my laptop working on the website when its not busy. :)

I'm an avid gamer, and before my recent departure from Eve Online, I would spend the majority of my time in that (and other) games.  Over the last 2 years of my time in EVE, I started getting into PHP programming with a MySql back-end.  I created mods for my eve-corp and eve-alliance websites using the knowledge learned.

Early 2008, I stumbled across Epic Rock Radio, by suggestion of Fade over at Metal Storm Radio (RIP, It was such a great station).  I've been a listener since that time.  Since then I managed to put all of my knowledge from doing eve site mods to use, and created the new Epic Rock Radio website for everyones enjoyment.

That's the Oser, in a nut shell.

I'll probably add more to this later, since there is alot of other things about myself to say, but start small, and work from there. :)

Guess I'll hop on the bandwagon too.

I'm Eric, currently a full quarter century old (that sounds bad  ;D). I would say that music is my #1 choice for entertainment. I currently have a collection of roughly 200 CD's (almost 2400 tracks - I have a metal-archives profile under the same name, you can check it if you want) which is growing all the time (I expect about 40 more CD's today actually  ;D) and I play the drums. I'm a Chemical Engineer (in training) working for a small consulting firm in Edmonton, Canada, which is where I do most of my listening to ERR.

I'm a big fan of prog, power, speed, and thrash metal, though I do branch out into death metal in small doses. I've been listening to metal since sometime in 2000. My favorite bands are probably Dream Theater, Symphony X, Tourniquet, anything with Rob Rock, and Iron Savior (subject to change without any prior noitce ;)); basically anything with predominately male vocalists. When I'm not causing serious head and neck injuries (http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/337/dec17_2/a2825?ijkey=01fdd798af0bb3137f919c5d264f340c7aedcddb) (:o), I enjoy video gaming and motorcycling (see my avatar, that's my ride).

I've been here since October 2006 (I only know this because I started listening when I started my current job) and it's been a pretty good ride so far, tons of bands that I had no idea about which I have subsequently purchased entire discographies (Iron Savior). Hope 2009 is as good as '07 and '08 were.

Great thread Rob!

Ok, I'm next? My real name is Johan, 35 years old, I live with my daughter (9 yo) in my own apartment outside of Stockholm, Sweden. Well, my daughter stays with me every other week, anyway...

I think I started listening to ERR about 3-4 years ago...my memory fails me. A colleague at the insurance company where I worked at the time told me about ERR, and we were able to listen to it at work, which was great! It really got me back into metal music. I've been a "member" in the message board for 2 years now, and I've written some posts there on and off, most of the time being off topic and/or totally incoherent I think  ;D  These days I really like chatting in the shoutbox, although I'm old and slow I try and keep up.
Oh and btw, a week from now I'm going to college (equivalent of college/university), I will study for 3 years to become a nurse and I'm really looking forward to it!

Music is a big interest of mine of course. I played the drums when I was a kid. Had this great teacher, who unfortunately moved back to California... My taste in music is very varied, but the thing that really gets me going is power metal with folky nordic influences, or other ethnic influences. Some of my absolute favorites are Falconer, The Storyteller, Wuthering Heights and Angra. And I just have to order the album Hope by Myrath, I love the few songs I've heard so far!

I also love climbing, ever since a friend forced me up on a local crag about 2,5 years ago. Rock climbing, ice climbing, bouldering - its all great! I really feel like a beginner still, but I enjoy it like nothing else!

Oh, and I'm trying to quit the bad habit of putting tobacco under my upper lip like we do in Sweden....been doing that crap for 16 years now, and it really is time to move on....so I'm a bit moody right now but I will succeed!!!

Ok, hej s lnge  ;D

This is fun.
Hi real name is Amanda. I am 18 years old, and live in Missouri. I love history, music, drawing, music, practicing my guitar (In which i'm horrible), music, my pet Chihuahua, music, and .... music. I am currently going to college for digital animation, but i just want to storyboard.

Epic Music was first introduced to me by a f woman who was friends with this guy from Finland. He sent her some music which she hated :'(, but gave to me. Kamelot's "The Haunting", Nightwish's "Nemo", Sonata Arctica's "The End of this Chapter", and some Leonard Cohen song. Anyways, it was the first time i'd ever heard anything like it, and my obsession began. Two (?) years later, i found myself bored with what little i had, and so i did a websearch for internet radio station, and ta-da! here i am.

I do listen to other stuff, classical, some opera, the 50's 60's 70's and 80's. And 90's. I really like anything but screaming and rap. And modern country. But Epic metal is my true passion.

I consider myself annoying, as i tend to get hyper when i am bored, and i am bored alot. So feel to tell me to tone it down anytime.

Hi, Epic Rockers!

My real name is Dan, and I live in Portland Maine in the U.S.A. although I'm originally from a small Massachusetts town about 30 miles west of Boston. I live with my fiancee, our adorable little 5-month-old kitten, and an aquarium full of freshwater fish. I'm just a few weeks shy of my 21st birthday, which is in early February. People who know me in the real world describe me as quiet, thoughtful, occasionally funny, a very good listener, and somewhat of a pain.

I'm a college student, studying music with an emphasis in composition. This basically means that I write "classical" music a lot in my spare time, although it doesn't have all that much to do with, say, Beethoven or Mozart. Perhaps soon I'll send a recording of something or another in to the station, in the footsteps of Kailef and Oseriduun.

As for instruments, I'm primarily a percussionist, spending most time on tympani, vibraphone, and drum set, but I also own a couple guitars, and play most other stringed and keyboard instruments to various extents. I'm not currently in a rock band or anything like that, although that is always subject to change, and I've been in a number in the past.

I discovered Epic Rock coming more as a prog-rock fan than a metal fan. I'd been listening to a lot of Yes, King Crimson, Rush, and other earlier prog bands, and when I asked a friend to recommend me some of their more modern musical descendents, in 2002, what he recommended were Spock's Beard, Planet X, Dream Theater, and Symphony X. Those last 3 were heavy enough that they eventually opened the door to other heavy-yet-artful music for me. I discovered Epic Rock Radio through Live365's website in 2005 or 2006, but never got around to visiting this site until March 2008. I'd like to think I've become something of a regular since then  :P

My turn I guess!

My name is Flora, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Cyprus. I've been listening to rock and metal for a good 7 years now. I studied English language and literature in Thessaloniki, Greece worked for only one year and then moved to Sweden with my bf... I'm currently doing nothing and feeling real awkward about it but I decided that 2009 will be the year I learn Swedish real well and hopefully get a job somewhere here.

I've been listening to ERR through live365 for about a year (it may be longer but I can't really remember) and I'm a fresh member of the site, only 3 months old!  :D I love (as many of you already know) Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Highland Glory, Michael Kiske :P and many more. The station as well as the site intorduced me to many great bands and my latest habit is chatting in the shoutbox with all those great people out there! It's real hard for a girl to find people who listen to metal and discuss about it like it's the greatest thing on earth! I feel real fortunate to belong to the ERR comunity!  ;D

So, that's me!  ;)

Hi, all! My real name is Lise, I am 41 years old, and I live in my own house in the 'hood in the Denver, Colorado area. I discovered ERR about a year ago on another internet radio site because someone left a message there talking about this place, so here I am! I originally studied and graduated from college with a degree in Veterinary Technology (which I also did in the Army for three years when I was very young), ;) but I now work for a large hospital managing supplies and trying to keep my nurses happy! My other interests are reading, gardening, current events/politics, various TV shows and movies (especially fantasy stuff like Harry potter, LOTR, Legend of the Seeker, Heroes, etc, etc,). Oh yeah, and drinking, of course!  ;D I love this site, and have enjoyed chatting with many of you here. Metal FOREVER!!   ;D

I suppose I'll jump in on this action.

My real name is Mike and I am 22 yrs old and live in Orange County near L.A. Right now I'm playing poker for a living until I get hired somewhere because I just moved down and we all know the economy is in trouble. I am getting my degree in music with an emphasis on classical guitar and minoring in business. My main goal in life right now is to one day fairly soon begin preperations to open my own bar with a friend and my brother Rob or as you know him "i am fabio." This bar will of course be used to book metal acts for the most part. I'm also trying to get my own career as a metal guy going as i've just began writing my first album.

I believe i came across err in late 2005 although that could be slightly off. Great station and i have been a pretty solid listener ever since. I just hope this station will continue to grow as it has!

P.S. Ill never forget the first epic metal song i ever heard which was "Flames of Revenge" by Rhapsody. 8)

Hi all!
My real name is Amanda. I'm 18 years old and living in Ottawa, Ont. (Canada for you foreigners). I was introduced to ERR in mid-Sept. 2008 and instantly fell in love with it. :D I currently live at home with my parents and brother and sister. I have a 6 y.o. Siberian Husky, named Demon, (cuz he looks like Demon from the movie snow dogs).

I do believe that if it wasn't for ERR i would probably have gone completely loony at school during my 1h 15m spare periods. Even though i'm still a little psychotic at times anyway.

Anyway i'll probably add to this later. Bye! And Stay Metal my ERRian freinds.  :P

I guess I'd better type one of these up.....  Let's see.

First things first:  My real name is Jarrod.  As of the time of this writing, I am 34 years old.  I live in California (USA) about two or three hours drive time to the east of Los Angeles.  I finally own my own home (yay) and live here with my wife and eight year old daughter, and three cats.  Meow.

I've lived in California for about twenty years, prior to that I lived in my birthplace of Massachusetts, which is about as far away from here as you can be from here without leaving the country.

I am the owner and operator of an Internet radio station you might have heard of.....   ;)

ERR doesn't pay the bills (In fact, it costs me money every month even with the donations) so I currently work as the lead network engineer a local outsourced IT management company.  I've been doing this professionally for about 11 years, I'd guess.  I primarily design, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain small to medium sized Windows computer networks.  (Servers, routers, switches, databases, all that nonsense)  I didn't got to school for it, but hold an MCSE certification for Server 2003 and an MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certification for Server 2008, both from Microsoft.  When I was younger, I imagined I'd work with computers, but I always thought I'd be programming games or something.  So much for that!  Still, I'm fiercely devoted to my job, and I've quite seriously got the best boss I could ever hope for.  An absolutely great guy.

I also am the owner and head instructor of a martial arts school.  We teach Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and Wing Chun kung fu.  I've been doing martial arts since I was four years old.  (You know, I just realized that means I've been doing it for 30 years. Wow.)  I really enjoy it quite a bit.  I used to complete in tournaments, and a for a while was participating in some MMA competitions to make money, but I don't do that sort of thing any more.  Don't really recommend it, either.  Between my computer job, my karate school, my family, and maintaining ERR, I'm kept very busy.

I have a rather varied employment background.  The most interesting highlights are about 6 years spent as the head of security at a rather rowdy nightclub, two years as a reserve police officer, and a year as a DJ at WCCR radio.

Let's see... Hobbies and interests...   Okay:  I'm a self-taught drummer and percussionist, and have played in a band for about ten years.  It's a lot of fun, but I've never considered doing it as a career.  It's more of an escape, a time of relaxation where I can get away from everything and just "melt" into the music that I'm playing and clear my head.  I'm a big science fiction and fantasy devotee, as well:  I generally don't watch movies or television unless it's good sci-fi or fantasy.  (And there's plenty of crap, let me tell you)  I used to do a lot of recreational reading of novels and such, but these days I haven't got enough time.  I don't get to do it often, but my favorite weekend activity is to head off and play paintball.  I've got some fairly high-end paintball gear, and it's a lot of fun.  I used to play World of Warcraft quite a bit, and am the guildmaster of PIF Silvergate, an Icecrown-based Alliance guild. ( http://www.wowguild.com ) I have tapered off playing quite substantially in the last few years.  I am still the guildmaster, but most of the management is handled by my officers, as I don't spend more than a few hours in game each week.

Trivia:  I have extremely bad eyesight, almost blind without my glasses.  I have never drank an alcoholic beverage, smoked, or used illegal narcotics.  I don't like cooked peas.  They taste awful.  My favorite styles of food are Thai, Chinese, and Italian.  My office in my home has seven computers and nine monitors in it.  This room is usually ten to fifteen degrees hotter than the rest of the house.

I guess that's about it!  If I think of something else, I'll come back and edit this post.

Real name is Chris, known everywhere as Hatchy. I'm 20, live in England. Into Symphonic, power and progressive metal mostly, although I do listen to other (more random) things. I am currently at Uni, University of the West of England (Or UWE), studying a 3 year course in Computer Games Design.

I've been into Symphonic, Power and Progressive metal for a few years now, when a friend introduced me to bands like"Rhapsody, Dream Theater, Nightwish and Stratovarius". Then I branched out (using the Interwebz and Last.fm) to find more bands similar to my tastes. In the 4 years or so of listening to metal, I never once thought to check any online radio stations, then a year ago I discovered ERR through Live365. Now 8 months on, I'm on this site and it rocks0rs my socks0rs !! :D

Anything else ya wanna know, just ask :)

Post by: Omacron on January 12, 2009, 01:13:19 am
Hello all I'm Omacron aka Omy,

I started listening to ERR about three weeks ago when I wanted to listen to some music and my dumb work computer was having trouble loading one of our local radio stations online connections.  So I searched for some good Metal music and guess what came up.  ERR!!  One of the reason I started looking for a radio station was that I used to listen to youtube a lot.  Then the other week we get a new filter on the web and now everything seems to take 5 minutes to load.  So here I am and I'm addicted to ERR.

Symphonic Metal isn't new to me.  I'm a lover of all music but Metal has my heart.  I grew up listening to bands like Alice Cooper, KISS, Steppenwolf.  From there my music passion grew to Metallica and Judas Priest.  Always I search for new music that enthralls my mind and makes me feel alive.  The first break away from American music was with bands like Grim Reaper, Iron Maiden and Kick Axe.  I became aware of just how limited our music was and that good music came from all over the world.  From there I started searching bands out on the internet, mainly through amazon.com.  I started listening to Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Kamelot, EdGuy, Avantasia.  Still there was more and more music I was interested in but funding my music addiction is limited.

I've always had an interest in music.  It became more apparent when in Jr. High School I sang in the choir.  From there I knew I wanted to be a singer or have something to do with music.  Unfortunately I've had little help in reaching that dream.  Instead I'm currently working in television.  My job is the master control operator, which means I keep the station on air with correct programming.  I'm here for quality control, to record programs that air latter, enter commercials into our playback list that I air for local breaks.  Not much to do but there are many things you need to know when you need them.  So for several hours a night I have free time I can listen to ERR.

Once I did try to follow my dreams and join up with a band as singer.  It never did go any where as there was tension in the band with many problems.  Some being drugs and unreliable members.  It was fun but then at times it wasn't.  The lead guitarist liked to be boss and lets just say I can't be pushed around, I lose my creativity that way.  Plus I was always confused on direction of the band.  So we have parted and that was that.  I still get calls from our lead guitarist but I've not followed up on that friendship.  Just don't get along with the guy that well.

So I've been stuck as only the karaoke singer.  From those times I still have people who come up to me this day and have to say you're a good singer.  Songs I like to sing are Steppenwolf "Born to be wild", Kid Rock "Only God Knows Why", System of a Down "Aerials", and various others.  I always get the question when I'm singing why I have to stop and let others sing.  So taken from that I assume I must sound good.  As I tell them I always try my best.  I hate singing songs I don't know or am unsure of for the very reason of not wanting to suck.

Always was interested in becoming a radio DJ but again the opportunities for that around where I live are slim pickings.  So if I really want to do that I have to move.  I live in Idaho, USA.  I grew up living in the country and raised ranching and farming.  This coming April '09 I'll reach my 28th birthday.  My other interests besides music are reading, video games, some computer art (always get mixed reviews on that, if interested I can give you a link to my photobucket pics).

I guess that's a good enough intro for now.  Say hi sometime.
Omy

Post by: Raine Lawliet on January 13, 2009, 01:04:14 pm
Well, I'm a long-time listener and occasional lurker of the forums, but I haven't really introduced myself properly. My real name is Jarod, and I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I'm 23 years old and currently looking for work. I'm trained as a web developer, but after working in the field for four years, I've found that I don't enjoy it very much. I've been writing as a hobby for six years, but over the last few, I've decided to get a bit more serious with it and try to get my work published. No luck so far, only because I haven't completed anything that satisfies me enough to share it. I do have several projects that I've put a lot of work into, however, and hope to have something to show for it by the end of this year. Ultimately, I would love to make a career out of writing or editing.

My first taste of epic rock was when an acquaintance of mine sent me an mp3 of Dream Theater's As I Am. By that time, I had grown tired of the dull, uninspired and altogether lazy pieces that passed for music in the mainstream, and this song proved to be a much needed breath of fresh air. I promptly bought Scenes from a Memory and began researching the genre, discovering Kamelot, Symphony X and Ayreon soon afterward and almost entirely replacing my music collection. Progressive metal has been prominent since that time, but I do have a place in my heart and on my shelf for symphonic metal, folk, classical, ambient and opera.

I've been a gamer for most of my life with varying levels of dedication. The Super Nintendo was my console of choice growing up, and even now, I hold Final Fantasy VI, A Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger as some of my favourite games. For the most part, I neglected the sixth generation of gaming, and only purchased a PS2 when the PS3 and Wii were in development. I'm paying more attention to the industry these days, though I still don't spend much money on it. I'm mostly an offline, solo gamer, but I do play the occasional online game as long as I don't need to pay any monthly fees.

Finally, I find myself more or less incapable of staying active on message boards, but I'll do my best.

Great thread Rob AKA Fabio. I guess it's my turn.

Most of you know me as Amir, and that's my real name ;) I'm 31 years old and I'm originally from Tabriz/Iran, currently living in Graz/Austria and I speak Azeri/Turkish, Persian, English, and Deutsch ;). I'm married to my beloved wife, Aida, since almost two years ago.

I'm a Research Assistant for my profession and currently doing my PhD in the field of Machine Learning/Computer Vision, which so to say tries to enable computers to learn from their experience with a focus on mainly recognizing/tracking objects automatically in videos/images. You could call it simply Artificial Intelligence for Visual Data ;) I hold a bachelor and master in Biomedical Engineering where I used to design digital hardware for a while before moving to AI.

Let's see: I was a semi-pro basketballist and swimmer, but nowadays I don't get time to practice anymore, I just occasionally play soccer or go for swimming. I used to be a hard-core gamer, mainly playing first-person-shooter and even for a while I was a member of a well-known European clan. I still play games whenever I have time. Since last two weeks we started to play Diablo II - The Lord of Destruction with my wife on our local network at home. I think this is now x > 10th time I'm playing this awesome game. I'm a fan of science-fiction books/movies and collect almost any movie that comes out in this genre. At my spare times, I also do some web developing just for fun. I'm working on a website which probably will come out soon, and it can be a good complement to ERR, (I need to discuss this with Kailef when it's ready). Stay tuned :P

As for music, I started listening to metal since early high-school and been a prog/power/symphonic metal fan since I was 17. I discovered ERR around begining of 2005 (Feb. I guess), while I was trying to listen to some nice music while working. Since then I tune almost everyday to ERR, and since almost 4 weeks ago, I've a new office-mate which likes metal music as well, so now instead of having head-phones, we hook ERR to a set of speakers and broadcast epic music at our department :P

I think that's it, now you know me ;)

My name is Rick, and I'm probably one of the older members at (almost) 52.  My wife Lisa, dog Xerxes, and I live in SoCal about 1 hour North of L.A.  She is 10 years my junior and goes to College.  I work in Burbank for a TV/Movie Props Company, and have also umpired amateur baseball for over 20 years. (Xerxes doesn't work...LOL)  I played piano and trumpet as a young man, spent 12 years in the Navy, and have literally been around the world.  I started listening to ERR while skimming thru Live365.com about 4 months ago, and it's my favorite station to listen to online.  I cut my teeth on Iron Butterfly and the Beatles in the 60's, Black Sabbath and Yes in the 70's, and Iron Maiden, Dio, and Def Leppard in the 80's.  I also enjoy classical music and some jazz.  Thanks for reading this!!

I'm Lexa and I'm 21. I've been into metal since early 2001 when I was introduced to Cradle Of Filth by a friend who was reading out the lyrics of their song "Her Ghost In The Fog" as her favourite "poem" in an English lesson. Wanting to know what the music sounded like, I had a listen, hated it, then asked to listen again on the way home because I'd had the tune stuck in my head all day! Prior to that I didn't like "loud shouty music" and barely listened to music at all.

So I got into Cradle Of Filth and gradually got into other bands which were recommended to me by other friends. My first steps into other metal began with Nightwish, Power Quest, Iron Maiden, Children Of Bodom, Sinergy, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Paradise Lost and Bal Sagoth on a mix-mini disc my friend Jess made for me. I began buying Metal Hammer magazines for the free CDs which expanded my metal knowledge and soon after I found the website www.metalstorm.ee which has a great database of bands listed by genre, country etc and each band info page shows similar artists that you might like if you like the one you are reading about. That site got me into plenty of other bands, in fact, most of the bands I like today I found out about via that site. Every month the site gave free downloads of compilation albums and the site also had a radio station similar to ERR in that you could make requests. It was the best metal radio station on the internet, with such a great diversity of tracks meaning I learnt more styles and genres of metal. Sadly it was shut down for some reason. I'm unsure why as I didn't visit the site for the first year of university (no internet access) and when I finally went back I found it had been closed down. I was directed to ERR by a member there who said I'd like it here, and I do. I just wish there was a bit more diversity of musical styles and vocals like the Metal Storm radio used to have.

Other than music, I am a university graduate - I took Archaeological Practice and got a 2.1 which is not bad at all. I eventually want to work in Archaeology, but at the moment there aren't very many jobs going due to the economic downfall. Noone is building anything so there are no new sites to get paid to excavate.
I also adore gothic and Victorian fashion and have a slight corset addiction. I currently lace down to 20 inches (4 inches smaller than my natural waist) in my bright lime green custom made corset, but my next corset will be made with an 18 inch waist.  ;D I love how corsets emphasise the female form so nicely. And I adore the looks and reactions I get when wearing my corset in town - a mixture of amazement/shock and comments of how good I look when wearing it. It gives me such a boost to my self esteem which can be quite low at times. I dream of one day owning a different corset for every day of the year.

So yeah, that's something about me. Anything else you want to know, just ask :)

Hello everybody.  My name is Ian.  I only discovered ERR a few weeks ago, but I have fallen in love with it.  I stopped listening to the regular radio a long time ago.  I've only been a metal fan for a couple of years, but am already a bigger metalhead than most other people I know.  My favorite subgenres are power, thrash, traditional, symphonic, and folk.  I've also been getting into a good bit of melodic death metal.  The main genres I don't listen to are black metal, grindcore, and other stuff like that.  My favorite band would probably be Blind Guardian.  Unfortunately, my CD collection is relatively small due to my meager funds.  In addition to metal, my interests include paleontology (which I plan on getting a Ph.d. in), Star Wars, Tolkien (and fantasy in general), history, mythology, and B-movies.  I have been playing bass guitar for about a year.  While I love metal with every fiber of my being, it's not the only type of music I listen to.  I also like listening to classical music, film soundtracks, and a little bit of everything else except rap, modern pop, and techno.  My heritage is mixed and includes German, Sicilian, English, and Scottish.  I am especially proud of the Scottish and Sicilian parts of me.

Well, thats about all I have to say.  Cheers.

Haven't posted here yet, so let's do this!

My name is Philippe, I'm a 33 years old man from Montreal, Canada.  I work in computer science, etc.
I started to listen to metal very young with Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Angel Witch, etc.  Later, at about 19 years old, I discovered the power metal with Helloween, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Rhapsody, Manowar, etc.
I have a big collection of CD (~120 CDs) most of them are here on ERR, some are not.  I have discovered a few great bands here, ERR is a great radio.

Cheers!

Hai, My name is Ivan Corea (unexpected right?) and I'm 29.
I 've been listening ERR for a long time now but I always come and go 'cause I've been sometimes working at places that have a connection so shitty that you cas see the poop coming out of the router.
My first metal album was Keeper of the Seven Keys 2. That was, I think, around 1997 and I changed for good.
Around 2004 I found that the power metal bands were (in most cases) only giving more of the same... just faster.
Then, somewhere in 2004 a friend gave me this link and my tastes in music evolved.
I found many new bands like Nocturnal Rites, After Forever, Kamelot, Epica, Freedom Call, Galloglass, Beholder, Persuader, Adagio, Axenstar... and the list goes on. It was a joy haha new music and thousand and thousand of songs!!

Since then, I started to listen to the radio and this has been the only station I ever play. <3

I live in Honduras, I haven't finished school yet mainly for 2 reasons: Work and Laziness but I'll be fixing that next year.
I like to draw
I like to listen to music
I like pandas (but i haven't seen one yer  :'()
I like to wet shave
I like geek stuff (but I'm not an ber geek [yet])
I like coffee.
I like Chocolates.
I love my GF
I play World of Warcraft and my character is a dwarf warrior (prot spec) on Agamaggan.
I spam a lot
 ;D

In a few lines, this is who I am

Well, hello everyone. My name is Murray and I'm from Western Australia. I haven't noticed any other Aussies posting on here yet, I'd like to know if there are.

I'm 45 and I just got sick of listening to the same old radio stations and I was looking for something different. Did an internet radio station search and came across ERR. I noticed the band names on the banner across the top of the website. Had never heard of any of them except Nightwish, my 16 yo daughter had downloaded their version of Phantom of the Opera. That made me take notice.

I've been reading the forums on here for a couple of months. I took particular notice of the top 10 album lists and started right with Kailef's favourites as recommendations. I'm interested in listening to full albums. I'm already a big fan of Scenes from a Memory, Hastings 1066 and Temple of Shadows. Oh, and that Mercy Falls ain't bad either.  I also like songs I've heard from Dark Moor, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius.

Finally, what was I listening to before? Well, mostly mainstream stuff I suppose. First band collected was Status Quo and I have all their works from the sixties until 1982 when I suddenly wondered why I was continuing to bother. Have been a big fan of Pink Floyd (as Dream Theater obviously are too) and Iron Maiden though for years.

Unfortunately I can't listen at work and I've got 3 kids so I'm never going to be able to listen to ERR much except late at night. However, there is just so much music that never hits the airwaves here that I want to explore. It'll be a long but enjoyable process.

I guess it is my turn now. You all know me as Rose, and that is my name. Age... Is 3 things for me, actual age, body age and mind age... My actually age is 38, my body age is 100 and my mind age is 18... This might have made you understand that I am disable and have a bit trouble with my health. A good laugh and good music can cure much! I am very happily married to Kwesster and we just celebrated our 10'th year marriage. We are born, raised and living in Bergen, Norway. My beloved cat Josephine at the age of 18,5 years adopted me in '94. I didn't even like cats... But she managed to turn me around with several weeks of charm offensive. Her favorite places is on my laptop, showing us that she also like to be a part of the internet life. A year later I met the man who would mean the world to me, and he still do.

It is also very amazing for me to learn that Norway has so many  musicians and vocals. Discover so my many other bands that play the kind of music I love. I like almost every genre of music, from country to heavy music. I am always looking for the music I look at as art. An example is Roy Kahn in Kamelot, everything he sings is art, and in my opinion; noone could ever do it better. I love music that can create a harmony that allow vocal, lyric and music to fit like a glove. They have to match. So to be a nice troll, I won't name anyone who doesn't make this happend in their work. As you already may have noticed, I am a troll and proud of it! What you expect? I'm norwegian :P

I have 4 songs that truly stands out and I could play on random every day, all day: 1. Kamelot - Abandoned 2. Evergrey - Different Worlds 3. Kamelot - Don't you cry 4. Ark (JORN) - Missing you. Besides Kamelot, you have Evergrey that make us take the step to realice that we are only human and every feeling in the body has the right to be heard. Vince Gill, is the king of country. With his beautiful voice, lyrics and music. In his genre, he is the BEST. I am more like one complex troll who can see the beauty in any kind of music or people if you may... Look at my husband Kwesster and you will know what I mean :). The honesty I feel metal has and the way they can express themselfs through things in life, making music that hits som many strings in my body and letting me know that all feelings in my and everybody else is true and accepted! That is most of the differences from top 100 list.

First thing that happends when this little family do when we wake up is... Saying good morning to our new "home" and "family" at ERR. We have moved in, and we are going to try to help as much as we can to keep ERR online for at least as long as we are alive :P As many may have noticed, our beautiful and old cat has wrote a lot on the shoutbox... She enjoy to be at part of all we do. So this "home & family" of ERR, we have already gotten bigger and I believe we are going to grow a lot! I am advertizing ERR where ever on the internet that I have contacts and I will work hard for that.

I am going to stop now... Cause I already talk way too much on the shoutbox... :P

I want to thank Kamelot's forum, for letting me find ERR. Kamelot rules!

Lot of hugs from the Troll Rose

Hey there everyone my names Clark and I live in Southern California. I was told by my friend Blake about this site. This is such an AMAZING site and I've been looking everywhere for something like this. I've been exposed to so much fantastic music from Blake and here its incredible. I had listened to (and loved) bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian, and Yingwe Malmsteen before but I've discovered Freedom Call, Seventh Wonder, Kamelot, and, most importantly, RHAPSODY!  Rhapsody is absolutely amazing!  Well anyways I'm 21, live in So Cal, an art major in school, I like video games, movies, theme parks, and other stuff.

Hi all Metal and Rocker heads!!

My real name is Kenneth and am married to Rose. We both have for the last 2-3 months after we discovered ERR grown to be big fans, you could say we are overdoing it a bit too, since ERR is running in the background every hour of the day, well as long as we are awake. :)

I'm born in the year of 1970 in Bergen, Norway and am (to be honest) starting to feel the age. Yes, you might think for yourself "Wow, he's only 39 and is already starting to feel the age?", but i am physically(...and mentally, shhh don't tell...) due to back problems, specifically ischias like symptoms. Well, I'll try keeping the whining to a minimum and go on with a bit more interesting stuff(hopefully). :P

I'm educated as an industrial plumber and had my apprenticeship period in 1988-91 and after getting my degree i didn't get offered steady working in the same company due to many of the same reasons a lot of people these days have experienced with the bad financial times... Yes, it has happened before you "youngsters" out there reading this. :)

I moved on doing my "mandatory" military service which lasted for 14 months before moving back into the puplic without steady work, but with the help of getting driver licenses to driving busses/trucks(without hangs) i began my struggle back by taking periodically jobs within goods transport and working as a call help in various companies. I did through these "jobs" finally get steady work as an industrial plumber in early -95. My work there was to assemble pieces of pipes for use in offshore installations, mainly oil rigs. In the end of -97 my health situation dramatically changed, making me no more fit for that line of work. So I had to go back to the "drawing board", figuring out new ways of earning a living.

Trough various trying and failing the next few years within the different public agencies/systems here in Norway and by getting a few Microsoft certifications, i managed to get back into a steady job in a cable tv company mainly as an internet support guy, which were both interesting and a PAIN with all the weird and "stupid" people calling, "needing" help for the most basic things... In -06 my health problems again catched up with me and more or less disabled me from working environments.

So there you have the short version of my work experience without sounding too whiny(i hope). :)

My main interests is my Rose, MUSIC(600+ CD's and Vinyls should cover it), computers(7 desktop and laptops), cars and politics.

Yup, should be enough for now. See you around. :D

Regards
Kwess

Hi everyone,

My name is Sean, I'm 25, married, have a 4 month old daughter, and I live in Southern California. I just found this board a couple of days ago while visiting Kamelot's site to try and find any information about when their next album is coming out. And since then, I've been streaming ERR at work pretty much the whole time. I work as an accountant, so I have basically all day to sit at my desk and listen to music.

I first was introduced to power metal in my first year of college...so probably 7 years ago or so. A friend of mine brought his mp3 player to a computer class we were in, and he showed me a song called "Dawn of Victory" by Rhapsody. Before this, my only experience in metal was Metallica, Pantera, and AC/DC mostly. Needless to say, I was blown away.

When I got home that day, I went on Amazon and bought that album, along with (I believe, it's been a while) Ecliptica by Sonata Arctica, Awakening the World by Lost Horizon, and Images and Words by Dream Theater. Since, I've just been accumulating more and more albums by more and more bands, and loving what I hear.

If I had to narrow it down, my five favorite bands would have to be:

1. Kamelot
2. Sonata Arctica
3. Lost Horizon
4. Cain's Offering
5. Secret Sphere

A funny story I just remembered - when I first heard Lost Horizon's first album, I couldn't stand it. I actually didn't listen to it again for months. Then, one day I dusted it off and listened to it again, and I LOVED it! (and loved their second one even more...so sad Daniel left) Funny how some albums can turn you off at first, but then grow on you so much so later on.

Welcome to ERR Sean!

If you live in Southern California then you should consider hitting the Redemption concert come Febuary 4th. Will see you there if you should decide to go. Gotta support good music when possible.

Glad you found the station. It will help many slow days get on a little faster. Rock on man!  8)

I'm Paul, I live in Omaha, Nebraska, I'm currently a manager at Taco Bell and I sing in a metal band that doesn't have a name yet. My band is currently looking for a female vocalist who can share keyboard duties with me as well as a second guitarist. You can hear some samples of our music here: http://www.myspace.com/insertnamehereomaha The videos are newer (Celtic Summer is really good), none of them have our drummer yet because he joined the band rather recently.

I first got into this genre of music like 7-8 years ago when a friend sent me some Dream Theater and my brother made me listen to Blind Guardian. Since then, I got into bands like Queensryche, Nightwish, and Stratovarius from other friends recommendations, and I heard about Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, and Sirenia through Pandora online radio. A couple years ago I found out a friend of mine from high school was singing in a band called Cellador, so I reunited with him by going to Chicago to watch them open for Sonata Arctica. You should have seen the look on his face when he was 500 miles from home and he saw one of his old friends banging his head and singing along with their music. ^_^

Hi folks, my name is Paul. I am 27 and live in northern NH USA. I work as a software engineer developing database driven web applications. I am into computers as I ought be for my career. My other interests include video games (mostly Quake Live and some consoles). When it is not terrible weather outside I like to go hiking in the mountains.

I stumbled onto this station by chance a few weeks ago. It is a near-perfect fit for my tastes. I was always into metal, but originally just stuff like Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Metallica and other speed/thrash metal. I started getting big into prog metal 3 or 4 years ago and have since discovered symphonic metal, power metal, and every permutation in between. I cannot really go back to the "simple" stuff since it seems so flat by comparison. My current favorites would include Dream Theater, Queensryche, Kamelot, Nightwish, Avantasia, Serenity, Dark Moor, Sonata Arctica, Opeth, Scorpions, Dio, Symphony X, Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth, Epica, Edguy, and the list goes on. I have to say it is pretty awesome finding people into the same music, I am so used to no one having a clue about any of the bands that are so frequently played here.

Hello everyone!!!!

My name is Nastia and I am 17 years old. I called myself Aqua on this forum 'cause I am a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts games and in the last KH: Birth by Sleep was a character, who was very cool and was named Aqua. Anyway, I am originally from Russia, born in Moscow, though I didn't stay there long 'cause after one year my family went for one year to Belgium. After that we came back for a short time to Moscow back though when I was 4 I already lived in Amsterdam, Holland. I spent there my childhood (4-9) and was learning in a good school called Anne Frank School. Then we came back to Moscow again and stayed there 2,5 years, now I live in Tallinn, Estonia. It's near Russia and above is Finland, for those who don't know it :D So, I know Russian, English, Dutch, Estonian and a little bit German, I am trying to learn it now. It's very similar to Dutch.
I listen mostly to progressive power metal and rock music like Kamelot (my most favourite band), Serenity, Epica, Sons of Seasons. I also like Rammstein and japanese pop/rock. Music from different games and films. I don't play any music instruments but I want a guitar.
I love to play PS2 games, soon I guess it will be also PS3, hehe. My favourite games are FFX and KH. Though I have played FFX-2, FFXII, Naruto Ultimate Ninja, Lara Croft, Rayman, Dirge of Cerberus...
Yes, I am an anime fan too. I watch mostly Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden. Favourite characters are Itachi, Naruto and Deidara.
Anyone who wants to talk with me, just contact. It's always good to meet new people...

Hi all,

My name is Marloes, I'm 26, married for about 6 months and I live in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. At the moment I'm trying to finish my natural sciences master and listen to ERR when I'm writing my thesis. Just like Rose I found this station on the Kamelot website. I'm very happy to finally find a good radio station with good music and without somebody talking half the time.

I've been listening to metal for over 10 years, yet I don't know very many bands that are played here. Unfortunately most of my friends don't listen to metal, so I didn't really get to know any new bands through them. In the last few weeks I've already found some good bands I didn't know and found some bands which I'd forgotten about. Besides bands like Within Temptation, Iced Earth, Dream Theater and Blind Guardian, I also like to listen to metal that isn't played here like In Flames and Opeth.

This is the first time in my live that I've actually taken the time to figure out how these forums work. Might as well tell a little something about myself. O, and excuse my English here and there, Ive started reading English novels a couple of months ago but I still have a lot to learn.

This might come as a surprise to you all but my real name is Tim. And explaining the rest of my nickname, my last name is de Klerk Wolters. I live in The Hague (Den Haag for the Dutch), its a city in The Netherlands and just so you know, this isnt part of Germany. It almost was but thank god for the Americans  ;)

I was born in Delft on May 3rd 1987 and I lived there for 13 years in a crappy neighborhood filled with a lot of criminal activity. It was a good thing we left because I was afraid to go outside and get my ass kicked once more. Great times, really :P

We moved to a new housing estate near Delft and just outside of The Hague. It was quiet and a great place for me to make some new friends.
After a while I kind of changed my new made friends in for some even newer friends and that was the beginning of a troubling time for me including a lot of senseless aggression, alcohol, illegal narcotics (even illegal in The Netherlands),  getting to know the people at the police stations and even sleeping over several times, community service, skipping school, being unemployed You name it, I did it from the age of 15 till 18.
When I was just about to turn 18 my stepfather offered me a job at the place he works and I met my current girlfriend. This combination really brought me back to earth. I said goodbye to all my friends and I havent seen them since.

These days I work 4 days a week at an Auditors office and I go to school one day a week studying to become an Auditor myself one day. This means going to work in a suit everyday, this surprising all of my relatives who already gave up on me a few years ago, you should have seen their faces, priceless ::)
My girlfriend and I have been together for over 5 years now and weve never been happier. We are very seriously looking for a house to call our own. No luck so far
I used to practice Jiu-Jitsu for a couple of years but I gave that up because of school. A little while ago I tried Shotokan Karate but once again I couldnt fit it in with my studies.
So to sum up everything I do these days; I work, go to school, do my homework and whenever Ive got some time left I spend it on my hobbys.
Talking about hobbys, Im a huge movie fan. I try to go to the movie theaters at least once a week and I watch a lot of DVDs at home. I also love to read books, especially Fantasy novels, right now Im reading Megan Lindholms Harpys Flight.
My other passion is Metal. This started about 6 years ago with bands like Slayer, System of a Down and Slipknot. Later it turned more into Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth and for 3 years I used to go to a lot of concerts but that all stopped with Graspop Metal Meeting 2005. After that festival I started listening to bands like Dream Evil, Helloween and Kamelot. After a while I didnt listen to anything else but Power, Heavy, Gothic, Symponic, Melodic Metal, almost everything on Epic Rock Radio, you can imagine how happy I was discovering ERR last year and with ERR a lot of new bands I never even heard off.
Now, I cant even imagine a life without ERR and all its great listeners, it really gets me through a hard days work. I also made a PayPal account just for ERR and you guys can expect monthly donations coming your way, keep up the good work!!!

Wow, thats a pretty long story there  :). Hope you enjoy it though ;) if not, Im sorry to have waste so much of your precious time.
Thats about it, see you guys in the shoutbox!!!! And I once again would like to apologize for the fact that I like Haggard so much :P

*knock* *knock*
Is it me now? Oh, ok!

Hi everyone!
Metalswede here, Or Roger Stokki as my birthname is...

Im glad to have gotten to know so many fantasic people through this amazing station!

Who am I...
Well, I was born 33 years ago and was raised in Nynshamn, 45 minutes drive from Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
I learned how to read when I was only 4, loved it and havent stopped since. My favorite genres are fantasy and thrillers and the favorite authors are David Eddings, Tom Clancy and Dean Koontz.
I was bullyed at school from first grade all the way up to the sixth grade. In seventh grade we all went to a different school and the bullying more or less stopped.
Why?
Could be because I found new friends with similar interests. Books, music and sports.
I teamed up with the guys (and gals) that was listening to the same music I had listened to my entire childhood - Iron Maiden, Helloween, Mtley Cre and Kiss.

I had been playing the guitar for some years and was asked to join the school rockband, but as the bassplayer, so I did.
At the same time, I was pretty good at sports. I played soccer, volleyball and icehockey. If i had an hour to spare i did som high-jump, just for fun. (I recently found out i was in the top 5 in entire Sweden at the age 15...)
My daytime job is for Coca-Cola Sweden as a merchandiser. At night i do what i can to make TWINS CREW conquer the world.

Hi Everyone,

My name is John, 26, and I live in Toronto, ON Canada.  I'm doing my Ph.D. now in Medieval Economic History -- so, if you have a question about whether you can pawn your vineyard for a loan and then get a reduction in the principal of the loan, I'm the one to ask.  I like to learn foreign languages (I think I'm up to fluency in 2, and reading in 3), follow American and International Politics (Canadian politics are about as exciting as watching paint dry), and I LOVE stupid horror movies (like teenage slashers and zombie movies).

I came into Power Metal/Epic Rock kind of backwards I guess.  I used to listen to a lot of Hardcore (Warzone, Strife, Snapcase, Earth Crisis) and some Death Metal (Vader, Necrophagist, etc.), but I got turned off by the terrible production of a lot of Hardcore (though the bands have skills for sure) and the lyrics of Death Metal just depressed me after a while.  So, I heard Gojira open for All That Remains and I loved them (and still do!), so this got me into progressive metal and symphonic metal (Sirenia, etc.), a little searching around got me to power metal, and a little more searching got me to ERR.  I'm still really new to the genre, but I love almost every song that comes on!  My favorite bands at the moment are Blind Guardian and Twins Crew.

So, nice to meet you all!

Hi, I'm Sammie and I'm 18 and I live in England (South East London to be precise).

At this moment in time I am a student hoping to start university in September to study an Art Foundation then to move onto a three year course in Animation. I am the oldest out of me and my five and a half siblings (the half is the same dad, different mum). I love watching anime (Descendants of Darkness, Loveless, Rozen Maiden, Haibani Renmei to be honest I think I must have watched almost everything now o.O) and I watch anime's in the original Japanese showings the dubs screw up the characters in my opinion. I'm reallly into RPGames (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Grand Theft Auto ecttt) infact, if I'm not seen watching anime or reading manga then I am most likely playing my ultra cool pink PSP  8). I loveeeee to do things involving creativity [http://libra69.deviantart.com/] this is where you can find most of my drawings/photography/literature works and if I'm not watching anime/reading manga/playing my ultra cool pink PSP 8) then I am drawing/photographing/writing. My favourate colour is purple.

To explain my username (the shoutbox is: Featherlibra) I am born under the "Libra" star sign and "Feather" is my general everyday nickname and I came up with the idea of making her into a character about nine years ago and she was meant to be the opposite of me but she's sort of turned into a character whom I use to write with because I can't be bothered to look up names in the baby name book (Seriously, I did enough of that with my mum naming my brothers and sisters)

Ermm so yeah. I can't think of anything else to say to be honest xD

Well, guess I better say something. :)

My name isn't actually Rogue, it's Ashley. I'm 23 and live in Canada. And I am indeed a lady. At least in the physical sense.

I'm currently in college studying print journalism. I just finished up my first year and I dare say I am quite proud of myself.

I first discovered ERR last year when searching for metal radio stations on the Internet. I was hooked ever since. Now I think it has taken over my soul.

Some random things about me.

I have no eyesight whatsoever.
Music wise, I'm into all genres of metal. Including the more extreme stuff. I'm also into classic rock because that's what I grew up on.
I'd buy the Twilight books just to burn them.
I love cats. Love them.
My drink of choice is vodka.
I believe in honesty. If I have something to say, I'll say it.
I'm too tired to think of anything else. If you wanna know more, all you have to do is ask.

Hi my name is Matthew

I live in sunny Australia. I grew up listening to classic metal. Then i heard Blind Guardian thanks to my Queen and Eagles heritage. That's how I got into power metal. This I looked at live365.com and radio three stations stood out - ERR, Skidrow and Warriorradio.com. ERR is the only one I listen to now.

My favourite bands are Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Dio, Rainbow, Ian Gillan Band, Scorpions, Opeth, Van Halen, Queen, Eagles, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Demon Hunter, LORD, Vanishing Point, Black Majesty, Dungeon, Saxon, Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Rhapsody of Fire, Stratavarious, Helloween, Dragonforce, Queensryche, Guns n Roses, Styper, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, AC/DC, Europe, Def Leppard,  Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Bruce Dickinson and Poison, with a little bit of hair metal on the side.

I completely missed this my first time around here....

I'm Tony, 18, from BC, Canada, I've been a heavy gamer since I was allowed to be, I'm currently working in the production room of a small-ish soda pop company, it's my job before I start school

I've been really lazy this past year, haven't really done much other then play WoW with my mom and brother (I know... don't bother complaining about it), as I was a graduate last year... I plan on going into a degree in music... over the years I have learned to play clarinet, trombone, tuba, Tenor Saxophone, a bit of drums, and guitar..... kinda... I'm planning on taking Tuba as my main instrument

It's really hard to say when I started listening to the styles of music on ERR, I have been listening to Dream Theater and Dio thanks to my mom since I was 8 or 9 years old.... didn't really listen to anything else here until I was about 14 years old... as I was a part of the rap/pop fad till then... then listened to Green Day.... I know... it's bad... and I look back at those times and I was wondering what I was thinking listening to that stuff...  finally I got an MP3 player.... I brought it to a family friend (of whom I don't really like anymore), and he went and put a bunch of Iced Earth, Rush, and Judas Priest on it... ever since then... I've been listening to Power Metal.... which eventually stretched to Progressive and Symphonic metal as well

Since then I have really expanded my taste of music, I'll enjoy listening to Jazz, Classical, Classic Rock, Symphonic Metal, Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal.... I'll even enjoy some country music

Hello every1.

Bjrn Larsen here. I live in a small village called Alsted about 45 miles from Copenhagen Denmark. Bjrn means "bear" in danish.
Im 48 years old. Have a daughter (Crista). Shes 22. And I have the most beautiful grandaughter (Tess). She was born August 25th 2009. The best thing ever happened to me! Im so proud of them.

Ive been around in my life. Went to 5 schools, lived in about 15 places so far. I certainly hope Alsted will be the end of moving around. I love the countryside. Except the manure odour.  :D :D.

Recently I lost my dad. ( Same day R.J.D. died). He was a great inspiration to me. And was my only parent for a long time. ( Lost my mum back in 1975 ). I will carry them both inside of me with the greatest respect.

I live together with my G/F in a rented house. Her name is Bente. Meet her Nov. 22nd 2009. Shes a great girl and into metalmusic too. (AC/DC and HammerFall).

Well..My music life is expained in my top 10, but will tell a short version here. I started out listening to glamrock in the early 70-es. Such as Sweet, Slade and Gary Glitter. Then I was introduced to PinkFloyd and Deep Purple. The came the heavy metal...such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Manowar. Followed by HammerFall and the new bands Ive got to know here on ERR.

Im interested in a lot of things. Model railroad, Porcelain, politics and comman knowledge. I love to play " trivial persiut". It challenge my mind.
I also like the spiritual world. It has taught me a lot of things about my inner self. It helped me through some serius problems with alcohol.

I work in a grass seed company. Driving a lorry or truck. A SCANIA R500 for those who are interested in trucks :) Ive been in the company for almost 25 years.

I also got a dog, a black labrador and we have a cat too, a norwegian forrestcat. Those 2 are GREAT friends. They sleep togther!! :)

Im totaly a leftwing guy. I believe in equal rights for all. And we only have 1 world, so lets take good care of it and share it equaly between us. I think the US took another great step for mankind when Obama was elected president.

In the end here Ill say that ERR is a SUPER great radiostation with some SUPER great listeners. All of them are great people.
A VERY special thanks to Valerie, Jarrod and all, creating and making this station run. Youre doing a superb job! :) :)

KEEP THE METAL SIGN HIGH!!!

soooooooo, this will be a long stretch, but my name is Joe.  And no, I'm not a grandpa... random high school nickname that began something like this:

Chris: "Hey Joe, you look just like my grandpa, except a younger version!  I'm gonna call you Grandpa Joe!"
Joe: "uhhhh, okay?"

I noticed a lot of people post their ages, but that kinda changes depending on when the post is read doesn't it? So I'll just tell you I was born in December of '88 and you can do the math, can't you?  I was born in Saskatchewan, but grew up in Abbotsford, BC, Canada (near Vancouver if that helps).  Currently, I'm working on my B.Eng in Electrical Engineering at the University of Victoria.  If I were to give any young person aspiring to be an engineer advice, I would say DON'T DO IT, IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!!! hahah, well not really, but if you fancy 6 not so easy classes and 5 labs and 90 hours of schoolwork per week, be my guest!  I'm halfway through 3rd year as of Summer 2010, so just over the hump. No use turning back now!

My favourite thing to do in the world is probably Snowboard!  Abbotsford is within a 1 1/2 hour drive from 6 different ski resorts and it's awesome!  Pretty much why I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.  Not to mention Whistler is only 3 short hours away  ;D

I bumped into this station completely by accident.  I was just getting tired of all the commercials on regular radio stations so I just googled "free web radio" and found live365.  A quick search for Rock landed me here.  Hafta say, it's pretty awesome.  Kinda opened up a whole new world of music for me.  I've been listening to Dream Theater for a few years but really had no idea there were so many bands in the same sort of genre!

I'm also secretly a pretty kick-ass Rock Band drummer.  If only my student loans would go away, I could afford to buy my own real set...

Anyways, anything else ya wanna know, just ask!  I'll prolly be on here a lot ;)

Post by: Ahin on July 27, 2010, 02:42:35 am
So as I am new here (I've discovered ERR just yesterday) I guess I shall introduce myself  ;D

My real name is Beata. Ahin (actually Ahin Lynn) is a fictional character whose name I use in the Internett. You can also find me under a nickname Biala Wrona or bialawrona (meaning White Crow). I come from Poland and as for now (2010) I'm 21. Currently I'm studying medical bioengineering and material engineering. Sounds terribly, doesn't it? Well, it's not bad. Don't listen to GrandpaJoe above me who tells you NOT to study anything with 'engineering' in it's name  ;) Being an engineer (or studying to be one) is actually a lot of fun. Even though it's sometimes pretty hard work. But that's the life - one has to work hard to be someone.

It's been a long time since I've fell in love with rock and metal music. I listen mainly to heavy metal, thrash metal, hard rock, power metal and some of the rockmetal classics but I actually like any rock or metal genre on condition it's powerful, energetic and has some melody in it. Wanna know more about my music interests - ask me. About the existence of ERR I've learned from a friend of mine (whom btw I've first met on a music portal). Finally a radio for me! Really, really great thanks to all those who took part in creating it and who keep it running.

See ya all around.

So even though I've been listening to ERR for a couple of months now, I apparently never bothered to join the forums until now. I doubt that I will be a very frequent poster, but it does look like a fun place to be.

My internet nickname is Ari, which is a short version of my real name, so feel free to use it here. I'm 21, and studying sound engineering in California. Its a pretty awesome major, linked with the computer science and music programs at my university. I'm currently in Japan (heading home tomorrow!) where I spent the last six weeks studying Japanese.

I've loved power metal since a friend introduced me to Sonata Arctica in middle school (it seems like such a long time ago) and I've never left it since. It remains my favorite kind of music, and Sonata Arctica is still my favorite band. I also like black metal, death metal, soundtracks, symphonic music, electronic dance, and a few other genres, but power metal rules my musical heart.

I have lots of non-metal-influenced hobbies like the Japanese street fashion "Lolita", baking cupcakes, sewing my own clothes, fixing computers, and playing RPGs on PS3 or DS. I am also a musician--I play the flute, piccolo, and I am also an opera-trained lyric soprano.

よろしくおねがいします~

Ari what a cool posting about yourself!  :)

Great bio, Ari, and welcome to Epic Rock Radio!  ;D   Don't worry about the time frame on registering here, I started listening to ERR in late April 2006 and never got around to registering until 2007.   But, back then there wasn't a Shoutbox, just the website.. so I was a little slower at getting around to becoming a part of this great community .

See you in the Shoutbox!  :)

Howdy there, i've finally got around to writing one of these :D

My name is Alex, i'm 18 and I currently live in Sydney, Australia while studying to get my BA at uni. I hope to be a medieval historian (of all the career choices ;D) some day.

I have been tuning in to this station for a few months now and found that it fits my metallic needs ;D, as well as introducing me to so many great bands.

I became a metal fan upon hearing the likes of Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Primal Fear. In fact the first metal album I listened to in its entirety, if I remember rightly, was Saxon's Dogs of War album, which remains my all time favourite. *hints for addition to ERR library* ;)

As well as a metal fan I also very much enjoy Progressive Rock, with IQ, Arena, Camel, Porcupine Tree, Genesis, King Crimson, Eloy and Gentle Giant being some of my favourites, just to name a few.

I also enjoy reading (alot!), writing, video games, movies and TV (when something decent is on).

Hmmm, what else... oh, I don't smoke or drink, my favourite colour is orange, my username is also one of my favourite songs by Annihilator... thats about all I can think of for now

Anything else you would like to know, just ask.

I'm Craig.  I'm currently 29 and live in the Chicago suburbs with my beautiful wife Stephanie and 8 month old daughter River, as well as our two crazy dogs Caisson and Indy.

I've been listening to metal since about the 8th grade, but at the time I listened primarily to what I referred to as the "holy trinity" of Metallica, Megadeth, and Pantera.  I was a guitar player so I eventually branched out into Yngwie and a few others.

Right around the end of high school I finally discovered the mighty Iron Maiden by blind-buying their first album because I thought the cover looked cool (though the album had been out for nearly two decades, I had no idea who they were).  Just after high school, my boss (who's now one of my best friends) turned me on to Dream Theater.

I discovered my favorite band by blind-buying albums of most of the bands that I was going to be seeing on the first Gigantour.  Best Buy had two albums, The Divine Wings of Tragedy and The Odyssey, and I decided to buy both since the name Symphony X sounded so cool.  It was love at first listen, which is actually pretty rare for me.  I loved both those albums, and when I got to see them on the tiny second stage at Gigantour, they were amazing.

Music really is my passion in life, but mostly just listening to it.  I never got great at guitar, I'm only a decent Rock Band drummer on Hard (though my wife, friends, and I did win a small local tournament which resulted in a free vacation!), and I can't sing worth a damn.  But I can't listen to enough music.  Mainly prog and power metal, but also thrash and straight up heavy metal, love all sorts of classic rock, hard rock and some alternative (mostly the 90s stuff I grew up with), and even some pop here and there and one or two rap artists.

Besides music I'm really enjoying being a new dad, watching my little girl grow up.  I watch way too much TV and movies.  Used to be all about video games, bought every big new release on Xbox.  Eventually Rock Band was the only thing we played, and these days we've fallen out of it altogether.  We played Halo Reach I think only two nights so far, and I'm sure we'll play a little Rock Band 3 when it comes out.  Now we mostly use our Xbox for Netflix and Last.fm lol.

I'm also one of those people that writes a novel every time he posts a message or sends an email.  As you can see.  So I'll shut up now!

I'm Rob.  I'm currently 25 and live in Northern California with my beautiful wife Jennifer and 8 month old daughter Ava, as well as our two crazy dogs Zoe and Maddie.

I've been listening to metal since about the 8th grade, but at the time I listened primarily to what I referred to as the "holy trinity" of Metallica, Megadeth, and Pantera.

Changed your post to reflect my story.  ;D That could honestly be my "introduce myself" post. It was scary how strangely familar your post felt. It often seems that my X-Box should just load up right to the Netflix page.

Rock on man!  8)

Hey Yall. My Name Is Michael, and I'm 18, going to be 19 in about a month actually. I foud EER on Kamelot's website, and have been hooked on this since. I've listened to metal pretty avidly for about 3 or so years, starting off with bands such as Kamelot, Edugy, Sonoata Artica(sp?), and Excalion. I listened to Pandora for a while, and found a new more bands that I love, most of which are played on here. I also love to listen to Van Canto, they have a really great and unique style which appeals to me. There are many more bands that I listen to, Not purly all metal, such as Skillet and Red, but there are far too many to list. I have also just recently bought Kamelot's new album, Poety for the Poisoned, and it is Amazing. Hands down.

A bit more about myself, I'm currently enrolled at the University of Texas at Dallas studying Computer Engineering, and I currently hold a job working as IT Support in a Data Center nearby.

Hope to see y'all more!

Hi, guess I can say something..

I'm from Norway, my real name is Brage (in mythology the son of Odin  :D), and I am 32 years old. Have wife and daughter.
My online-name comes from my pet tarantula, a poecilotheria metallica. Beautiful creature. Unlike many that holds tarantulas I am not a collector - is very happy with just the one (so is my wife...)

I've listened mainly to metal for about 15 years. Started with Paradise Lost and Dream Theater. Many more have come along, and I'm still actively adding to the list. Favs are Avantasia, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Edguy, Masterplan, Mystic Prophecy and The Vision Bleak ++ the list goes on, as there's about 300 CDs in my collection right now.
Very happy I found ERR (found it at Kamelots page), a Lot of good music here, and it gives me new ideas as to what to buy.

Apart from metal I like photo, editing photos, travel, long walks in the wilderness (bouth in Norway and more exotic places - been hiking throug bouth Amazonas and jungle in Thailand), and tending my little farm. Always got things to do, usually a bit more than there is time for.

That's it for now  :)
Rock on, stay heavy.

Well I guess this should be a good firtst reply  :)

I am under 18 and over 10...
I don't talk much, so this will be short. Call me Nic though that's not relly my real name. I came here because, of course, I am fan of epic/symphonic metal esp. in the power metal catergory. I wish I lived in Europe [current country of obsession - Norway, was New Zealand before]. I am a hardcore Tolkien fan and also am currently on the precipice of obsession with Kamelot. Yes, that is all for the moment.

Hey y'all. I'm Evan, I'm 17. I live in snowy Minnesota where nearly everybody listens to crap pop music. I have always avoided pop, but listened to (good) country and and classic rock mostly until early September when a friend introduced me to Kamelot. Since then, I've been listening to progressive and power metal non-stop. But I've always been trying to find a good online station, and this is by far the best I've come across. My favorite bands are Kamelot, Dream Theater, Falconer, Nightwish, and Theocracy. I also have been trying to teach myself guitar, but it's not going very well so far  :-\.

So that's me.

Also, I'm really excited for May because me and a friend are going to see Symphony X when they come to town! \m/

A Newcomer is here, . . . .  ;D

Well, the Name is Ruman , I live in Indonesia and of course from Indonesia too. I'm 22 this year ( what a year  ;D ), and I am just a College student in a really boring field of study that Learn about the Governmental Administration ( well, someone has to do it, I guess  8) ).

I think it's pretty awesome that we've got people finding us through Loudcaster / Shoutcast now, and not just Live365.  Live365 has been great to us for years, but they really need to rethink how they operate because pretty soon they'll become more trouble than they are worth for listeners who just want to click a button and hear their music.

My name is Anthony, I am 26 from Pennsylvania, USA. My first metal experience was Metallica S&M 11 years ago, I love how the Orchestra sounded along with The Heaviness of the music. Later that year I was introduced to Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Sonata Arctica, Lacua Coil, HammerFall, DragonForce (Then DragonHeart) and Nightwish. I was hooked. I realized there was so much more to metal then the Every Day American Metal.

Well, as I'm "spamming" the shoutbox since a couple of days, I should say a few words about who I am ;)

I stumbled upon ERR just a few weeks ago via the Kamelot site on Facebook. Me and my husband (and even our daughter (3)) are totally into Progressive Rock and Metal and we love Power Metal. Our music collection is already quite respectable, but new input is always welcome :)

My father actually introduced me to Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Procol Harum, Emerson Lake and Palmer, etc. when I was 14. Let me see, that was 24 years ago. Only months later I listened to Metallica the first time. That sparked a subconcious quest for my perfect music, which came to an early end when I discovered a band called Morgana Lefay, a swedish Power/Thrash/Melodic...Metalband - yeah, you couldn't quite put them into any of those boxes.
I was introduced to music of numerous metal acts back then. But nothing could completely convince me as Morgana Lefay did, not even Blind Guardian or Dream Theater - maybe The 3rd And The Mortal, but they didn't have the power.
After a three years absence of Metal and Rock (rolleyes) I noticed that I truly love them and then luckily ran into who is now my husband, who showed me the door towards the Proressive music. He played Dream Theater to me and I was instantly in love. He introduced me to Marillion (both with Fish and with H), to Porcupine Tree. Step by step I learned to not hate every growly music and got me hooked to Opeth. A new journey into music had begun and will carry on until - until I die, I guess. there's so much to dicover in the world of Epic Melodic Power Progressive Metal Rock \o/

Um, what I'm doing while I listen to all that wonderful music? I'm a quite young mother, so there's loads to do around my daughter and the house.
I have a degree in architecture, but no time to work in that field atm.
I love Japan, Japanese food, arts, knitting, drawing/painting, good movies, some games. I practice Yoga. Intersted in politics.

That should do for now (few words ::))
Best wishes from Germany to all of you here :D

Hello friends. I discovered ERR (through Reddit's r/PowerMetal) only like a week ago. But it is great. You guys play all my favorite bands and no crap. Perfect.

My name is Blake and I'm 20, turning 21 next month. I live in Alberta, Canada, so power metal and stuff isn't really popular around here. I go to every band that comes through this way, though. Love seeing these bands live! The last show I went to was Iced Earth and Symphony X. It was awesome!

I'm an apprentice in a small town working to become an electrician. I can't listen to ERR at work but I spend all my off time during the week listening to music. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, be it drinking beers, getting creative and drawing art, or playing video games - the music is on. And it's usually loud as hell. One of the only times the music is off, is when the hockey game is on. I listen to significantly less music during playoff season.

I grew up on the classic rock tunes because of my father. In grade 4 my favorite band was the Beatles, then later on Led Zeppelin and the Who. By around grade 8 I was a diehard Maiden fan. But in high school I discovered some of the better known power metal bands like HammerFall, Axenstar, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, and Angra. Fell in love with this stuff. I haven't looked back since. I love how I can tune in to ERR and hear some of my favorite tunes playing, or bands that I haven't discovered that are completely new to me.

I'd have to say my favorite band of all time would be Edguy. Tobi can wail like no other. But I love it all - Sonata Arctica, Iced Earth, Tr, Falconer, and Blind Guardian are a few of my favorites. Of course, the list is too long to name 'em all. I'm sure you guys can relate.

I have a feeling I'll start getting fairly active on this site if I'm gonna be listening constantly. So, nice to meet you all. I'm Blake, a beer-drinking, hockey-playing metalhead.

Well, looks like you guys don't have new blood since 14 March 2011 so I decided to stop by and say hello :D

My quest to find ERR first started long ago when I started to be sick of all the pop music on the radios. I understand why radios only play pop and general rock (at best) - it's what most people like to hear and it's the one thing that gives them profit and money. I've been in several studies for pop musics and after the 6th try it kinda became obvious (the user tests made by them also get boring after some time lol).
Anyway, after that I decided to start listening to a 80s music radio (playing music from 70-80-90). That was my main radio for a long time. There I met some great masters of rock like "Dio", "Black Sabbath", and good old classics like "Eye of the Tigger" (we all remember this one right?). However, after a few months I concluded that radio was not metal enough for me, so I decided to search on the internet for rock radios. I found a few symphonic rock radios and so far this is the one I like the most.

Hope you liked my super common story !
(PS: I still think we don't get enough oldies ... like "Holy Diver", but that's my opinion :P )

Since I started listening a couple of weeks ago I've ended up buying several new albums (Beyond the Bridge, Krypteria, Powerwolf, Xandria, Amberian Dawn, LORD), so a big thanks for introducing me to some great new music!

Nozzi, great to hear that Damnation Angels sent you here.  :-)

Mark my words...  I'm here to tell you, as long as Damnation Angels stays together, they are going to become one of the HUGE names in the symphonic metal scene.  Big like Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, and Nightwish.  Trust me on this one.  We literally get sent hundreds of debut albums looking for airplay every year.  None of them, ever, has been as good as Bringer of Light.

I swore not to do an introduction but I guess if am going to hang around Id better, I dont like the anonymous thing myself.  Well my name is Nathalie and am from Switzerland and am an old rock girl  :o.   To tell you the truth I thought Id leave after the couple of weeks realising how young everyone was, I didnt want to pass for a weirdo "hanging out" with students  ;) and then found that it was rather nice being here.

My music genres include, but not limited to, (youll be wondering what the hell am doing here) primarily,  classic rock, classic metal/hard rock, prog rock, THEN hair metal, power metal , some thrash, some folk, some prog, but am afraid symphonic metal is not really my thing and dont think Ill get into Kami as you call them.  But my number one band would probably be Pink Floyd and the rest following closely, Sabbath, anything to do with Dio, Deep Purple, Maiden, Scorpions and loads more but also Megadeth, Metallica etc  Am very fussy about my music and hate loads of stuff in the various metal genres.

I actually discovered new good stuff  here, for example I discovered the Lord of Mushrooms purely by selecting the band for a request because of its name and wondered where they had been all my life, bought two albums since, the name is soooooooooooooo me, oh yeah of course am into the 60s psychedelic stuff too although I dont listen to it much anymore.  And Vuurbos introduced me to Iron Fire and I quite like these guys, got one album straight away too and may get another one but will play each song here first from it.  Well I suppose I am here more for the chat than the playlist when listening to music and not doing anything else with my hands (except Saturdays/holidays when I have a glass of something in one hand) even if I may listen to something else some of the time its like having company (other than my husband that is, I mean after 20 years you run out of stuff to say  ;D

About me other than music, I love fine food and champagne and bears, and am completely nuts about panda bears, so just humour me when I start posting panda pics :D, in fact I stalk them on a couple of pandacams.  Am also a bit of a party animal, and as it's difficult to find the right club anywhere, I decided to turn my garage at my holiday place into a priate bar/discotheque. :o

Many of us here are not "young"  at all  :P it largely depends what time of the day you're around as to who else is. ;D

Hello Everyone!

My name is Aldwin. I'm only 15 years old :)). I'm from Philippines. I'm at 4th Year Highschool and planning to become an I.T.. Symphonic, Progressive and Power Metal Bands are my interests. I'm best at MMORPG and DotA =). I have a Youtube channel that creates videos about gaming, and some song lyrics.

I've been listening to ERR for about 1 month and 3 weeks from now. I love symphonic metal coz its like a little orchestral and has a soothing sound. I've been looking for a radio that has symphonic metal for a long time and bingo! I have found ERR. My favorite bands are Rhapsody of Fire, Luca Turilli, Angra, Damnation Angels, DragonForce, Masterplan, Heavenly, Warmen, Nightwish and Within Temptation. I discovered many awesome bands coz of ERR like Kamelot, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater Sonata Artica and many more!

For me music is essential to my life. Without it, I might die. That's all I can introduce, thank you for passing by..

Post by: Booey on October 27, 2012, 10:05:30 am
Hello everyone. Thought I would post here since I have been listening and enjoying ERR for probably well over a year now. I can't remember how I originally found the station, I think from shoutcast maybe. Or searching internet radio stations at work trying to find something better than Pandora to get me through the work day.

Well anyway my username is Booey, my real name is Jackie. I'm 31 years old and live in Virginia, USA. I've been a metal fan probably since late teens. Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania all there really was to listen to was country music so that's what I was in to, until I saw the light! Started with Metallica I think, and Iron Maiden of course, and hair/glam bands. Then my older brother introduced me to symphonic & power metal with Nightwish and Blind Guardian (now two of my top favorite bands), and also to prog like Dream Theater. Now I just very much enjoy finding new bands and sounds, there is always something different to find. That's what I really like about ERR is that it has such a huge catalog every day I am finding something new and it's freakin awesome!

Metal, and also music in general (if it is good!), to me is like something that feeds my soul. I can't tell you how many times I have been down and all that kept me going was a song. There is nothing like being a part of a crowd at a show everyone singing with the song, it is like being a part of something greater than yourself. Or finding that song that you can listen to 50 times in a row and not be tired of it, or EPIC 12 minute long songs :-) . Especially lately it has been something to help me through life- the day after I bought the new Nightwish album my father passed away unexpectedly. Listening to the new album ended up being something that helped me not come completely apart, because it was a connection to something normal when it was feeling like nothing would ever be the same again.

Well not to close on a depressing note, Nightwish is also there for the good times too, my husband and I's first dance at our wedding was to The Islander. There ending with something happy! Thank you ERR for being so awesome, I hope to be able to keep listening for a long time and maybe chatting with some of you in the shout box. Up the Irons!

Hello everyone, I just registered hoping to share my love for progressive rock!!!  Wish I was musically talented, but my keyboard of 3 years is sitting idle due my lack of determination. :(   I really admire those of you who have spent the time to learn and progress in your musicianship.

Love listening to this radio network, I found it on my new phone through the mobile app Tunein.  I just discovered the great band Voyager and heard it on this station, so thought I'd post a quick intro saying how much I love this type of music.  Keep it coming!!!!

Hi,

My real name is Ty Im 41 and Im from the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. I was born in Israel and moved here about 12 years ago.
Currently married and have two kids, six year old girl and four year old boy.

My interest in music started (Ill go back to the roots) when I was about 13 I was listening to new wave (Depeche Mode, The Smiths etc).
At about 16-17 me and some friends discovered Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, these two bands lead us to Black Sabbath. And that was it, I was hooked from then onwards.
In my early 20s I was listening to Maiden, Priest, Pantera, Megadeath, Metallica, Slayer and the list goes on.
Slowly I got into more Thrash, Speed, Doom and power metal.

When my daughter was born, family life has taken over and for about four years I didnt buy a single CD. I just kept on listening to my old CDs. I had about 100 cds and that became boring after a while. I discovered live365 and then found ERR. I have never looked back!!

ERR is just amazing, it filled the gap I was missing in previous years. Power & Symphonic metal was exactly what the dr. has ordered. I am so amazed that every single day without fail I discover a new band. Currently my favorite bands are: Rhapsody, Powerwolf, Dragonforce, Blind Guardian, Borealis, and Stratovarius to name a few.
I also enjoy some prog and really got into Royal Hunt and others.

Im trying my best to teach my kids what real music is (really hard when you have One Direction playing on TV). But they are not too bad. Their favorite song at the moment is Over The Hills And Far Away by Nightwish.

Anyway, Im going to be here for a while. Big thanks to Kailef and ~V~ for all the hard work. Keep it coming.

Ty

Guess I should actually post here. Prolly should've done this about 4 years ago...haha. I came to ERR sometime in the summer of 2010 (I think?). Don't really remember how I heard of ERR, but came across it on the Interwebs somehow and pulled the site up on my lunch break at work one day and Lo and Behold......it was EPIC AWESOMENESS!

I sometimes take breaks from ERR, as my music tastes are pretty varied and sometimes I get into a different mood that ERR just cannot sate. But, I always come back here, as Symphonic and Goth Metal are my core favs and always draw me back home to where I belong!

As I said, my music tastes run the gamut, in this genre, my fav groups are (in no particular order):

Queensryche (my fav by far)!
Apolcalyptica
Silentium
Epica
Nightwish
Axel Rudi Pell
Manowar
Therion
Rammstein
Krypteria
Dark Moor

Other hobbies include all sports, reading (sci-fi/fantasy), video gaming (PC/console), board gaming, and of course...music! Married with 2 step-kids that are now 20 & 17. I am 38 BTW (getting ready to turn 39 in a couple of weeks) and live in the St. Louis Missouri are in the States.  I am a computer programmer and a self-proclaimed 'nerd'...haha

And you can catch me almost anywhere on-line with the moniker of Spydyr or TheSpydyr. If you see it spelled that way, then it is me. Oh, and my name is Sam!  ROCK ON ERR'thlings!!!!

Hi everyone.

My name is Michele and I am a long time lover of power metal in all its wonderful forms.  I live in the U.S. in the state of Delaware which is about as un-metal as you can get, though we can lay claim to Matt Barlow of Iced Earth/Ashes of Ares.

Though I prefer power metal in its various forms 95% of the time, I also like a lot of folk, viking, doom and melodic death bands.  Iron Maiden is my all-time favorite band.  Some of my other top favorites are Rhapsody Of Fire, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, My Dying Bride, Arkona, Heidevolk, Eluvietie, Stratovarious, Katatonia, Vanishing Point, Saxon, Amon Amarth, Secret Sphere, DGM, Fates Warning, Pharaoh, Dream Theater and the list goes on.

I am the admin of a Facebook page called Power Altar which is dedicated exclusively to Power Metal.  It includes videos, band info, interview links and reviews.

I am also an admin on an all-genre metal page called Heavy Metal Hitman (also on Facebook) that has over 112K followers where I do a weekly Power Metal show (Sundays, 2:00-3:00 p.m. eastern U.S. time) and also a Viking Metal show (also Sundays, 7:00-8:00 p.m. eastern U.S. time).

S'up rockers!

My real name is Wes, just recently registered here but I've been listening to ERR for years. I used to work for a small company that let us stream music at work. Found ERR on Live365.com and have been following it ever since. I'm 44, grew up in the halcyon of 80s rock where I wore out copy after copy of Operation Mindcrime in my car's cassette deck. I stumbled onto symphonic metal in 2000 after reading some random review of Nightwish's Wishmaster. Talk about a breath of fresh air after being stuck listening to the crap that was put out in the 90s! Nightwish is probably my favorite band now, followed by most of the rest of the standard bands we have here.

Hobbies are music, though I don't play, all things hockey and golf.

I've stumbled upon ERR while searching for a power metal radio station. My 2 main bands are Rhapsody (all variants) and Blind Guardian. I found ERR to be a great way to discover new bands.

I'm an avid PC gamer (Elder Scrolls and Civilization are my 2 favorites franchises) and loves everything fantasy-related. I'm also a big fan of anime (Bleach, SAO, Irregular at magic high school, Mai Otome, Noragami, etc...).

Aight, let's do this!!!

My real name is Benn, mostly called Benni and always go by Svarthamar online. I'm 27 and hailing from the frozen north of Iceland (which is sunny and warm at the moment).

I came across ERR the other day when I needed something to listen to at work and googled "Heavy metal radio station" and came across a list with your name.

I'm currently working as a programmer  but I studied physics and comp.sci at Uni.

I've been listening to metal/rock in various forms since I was about 12, when a friend of mine introduced me to Iron Maiden. After that i got heavily into many different genres of rock and metal, and i've listened to a lot of bands like Iron Maiden, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Sonata Arctica, Rammstein, Dragonforce, Nightwish and Sklmld (Icelandic, check it out!) since then, to name a few.

Benni / Svarthamar,

Great to have you here.  If those are the sorts of bands that you like, you've definitely come to the right place.  And, Iceland, eh?  I don't think I've ever met anyone from Iceland.  That's cool.  No pun intended.   ;D  Also, I'll hve to check out Sklmld.

Wow, Iceland!  That's awesome, Svarthamar!  Nice to have you join us.  ;D

Anyway, glad to be here, and thanks for the awesome music!

Hello ERR!

My name is Henrik, Im in my early 20s and live in Finland. Ive been active in the chat for a while now and finally decided to join the forums as well. I actually found ERR a while back (maybe in 2011) and have been listening sporadically since then, but this summer Ive had the opportunity to tune in extensively while working. My summer job will soon come to an end and Ill go back to studying at the university, but Ill definitely still tune in from time to time.

I got into metal in 2008 via Iron Maiden and Metallica (original, I know) and have since then grown especially fond of power and symphonic metal. I absolutely adore Blind Guardian and find them to be miles ahead of the competition. Other favourites of mine include Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Epica, Therion and Within Temptation.

Good to be here!

Great to see you on the forums!  To comment on your favorite band:  The thing I love about Blind Guardian is their vocal harmonies - They kind of remind me of Queen.

Hope to see you around the forums more often!  They're kind of slower than they used to be these days, as post people stick to the chat on the main page.

Hallo everyone... My real name is Christian, I am 20 years young. I study economics and business economics, and live somewhere in Gelderland, the Netherlands. I'm also a tutor and I enjoy travelling around. I came here a few years ago for the first time looking for a radio station that had my favourite band, Threshold, on the setlist. This was the only place I could find. I have taken a long break since then, listening to other stuff, and started listening to it again intensively something like a month ago. I am a lurker in the chat (although once I tried chatting) and a requester of songs. Some of my favourites now are Threhsold, Ayreon, Avantasia, Nightingale and so forth a lot of bands. Beside these prog-infulences, I also enjoy some blues, jazz, classical or more brutal metal on the side, like Immortal of Amon Amarth. I hope I haven't forgotten anything... Oh, and my girlfriend enjoys the music too.

I have been around here exactly two years now so maybe it is about time to do this

Im 31yo and I live in eastern Finland with my wife, 1yo daughter and cat. After PowerProgRadio went shut, I searched another radio and eventually found this. I came for good music, but I stayed because of great people  :D  I do programming for living at home and it is kind of lonely work, but I never feel lonely when I have this station open!

My hobbies are reading, playing and collecting video games and music in many forms like listening, visiting gigs and festivals, collecting cds and playing bass.

Hello everyone,
My real name is Ivana, 33 years old, and I'm from Belgrade, Serbia. I started to listen ERR about 10 years ago, I saw some notification about site on Kamelots page on fb. In that time i had username Petra, than I forgot password and opened new account with my real name :) . I'm married to danish guy and we have two years old son.
I'm profesor of mathematics and computer science. I worked in school as a teacher for some time and tried to change new generations :), that went nice but life had other plans for me, so hopefully I will move in Denmark and start everything from beginning :D .

I love to listen music. I infected my husband with metal :)
List of my favourite bands is long but some of them are Sonata Arctica, Strato, Kamelot, Circus Maximus, Blind Guardian,  Pagan's Mind, Keldian, Adagio, Evergrey....

10 or so years too late, but here goes!
I'm Nate and I'm a software engineering manager in the U.S.
I love soccer, fly fishing, Epic Rock and (most recently) drumming!

I'm married and adopted a 17 year old son last year! I'm introducing him to the greatness of metal slowly. Before he knows it, he'll be rocking out to the good stuff soon.
My wife is a 4 year cancer survivor and fighting like a champion every day. I am constantly in awe of her strength and fortitude!

Glad to be a part of this community. Music can influence us in so many ways and I can't describe how happy I am to have discovered so many awesome bands through this very radio station!

Rock on fellow EpicHeads! Great to meet and know you all!!!

-Nate (Lithro)

Thanks for letting us know so much about you, Nate!  I sure wish that my daughter (who recently turned 18) liked something other than rap and hip hop, but she's firmly entrenched in the styles and fashions of her generation.

Luckily, he's already into rock and not a ton of the top 40 stuff. I got him into GloryHammer recently and am planning on working my way from there ;)

I have a special place in my heart for hiphop/rap from growing up in the 90's, but can't really get into the mumble rap of today...  :-[

I enjoy all forms of metal. About 10 years ago I did a phone interview with Tony Kakko for a metal zine. He's a very funny guy.

I also play black metal:

Greetings folks, Name's Daniel. 35 yrs old... for now. The wife and I have a cat apiece and reside in central valley california united states. I started listening to ERR after a very short search online for metal stations. A gal from college introduced me to within temptation so that'd be my gateway. I suppose my current occupation is as a stagehand/theater technician but I identify as a network admin and IT consultant. I'm an avid cyclist (mtn bike in town) specifically a distance/duration rider. I'm also an offline gamer in that I'm exclusively a soloist cuz it's cheaper, easier on my internet and gamers are generally obnoxious myself occasionally included.

Not much too say about me. I'm a low profile guy, over 40 years euh...young.
I like lots of music styles, but Metal is on top of my list.
Been searching for a good radio-station and I guess I found one  ;D
I don't know what sorts of music they play in other countries, but in Belgium they know nothing about good music.
There are a few metal bands worth playing, but I think we can count them on one hand. But then we have are neighbours, The Netherlands, who have plenty of good artists in this scene.
What else can I say. Well, I love cats. They are unpredictably stubborn but sweet as candy.
One of the reasons I also registered my Nick here, is because I like the old fashion way of a forum. Today we must have facebook, twitter and all those other social media b#llsh#t apps or we aren't a part of this world anymore. Well, if that's it, I'm proud of living in that other world.
I like working with computers, nothing special. We can say I'm a simple everyday linux user.
So, I could write a whole page here, but my English is not that good. I have to overthink every word before typing it down, so we're not gonna do that, lol.
And we still have to keep it a bit mysterious  8)

Regards

-Amenra-

Amenra, it's great to meet you.  I know what you mean about forums.  While I participate in some social networking, if I had my way I'd prefer to just stick to forums.  Sadly that's not the way of this world anymore, but I that doesn't mean that I'm going to get rid of the ERR forums!  I'm glad you are enjoying the station, and I hope to see you around for a long time.  :)  By the way, I love cats, too.  :)
