Title: Metal news for Australia fans - concerts etc. Post by: The Eagle Warrior on February 12, 2011, 06:19:55 pm Saxon
Guests - The Sword To say that SAXON are one of metal's most influential bands would be no understatement. The band who along with Iron Maiden and Motorhead begun the movement now known as The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, have been cited by no lesser luminaries than Metallica and Slayer as a primary influence. Being the trailblazing pioneers in any walk of life has its hazards and so it was that SAXON's over the top shows also inspired a young filmmaker by the name of Rob Reiner who made the world's first full-length mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap! One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, THE SWORD have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness, toured the world with Metallica, and were one of the first bands to lock into a whole new legion of fans through Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars for 'Warp Riders', their third full-length and most ambitious effort to date. Warp Riders is THE SWORD’s first concept album. It's also their most flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war machine that lauds over the blackened sky. “Warp Riders” is a monster of an album with monster melodies, monster hooks, and monster riffs… an album overflowing in classic metal perfection.” – Metal Underground TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY 28 JANUARY, 9AM MONDAY 28 FEBRUARY MELBOURNE, GERSHWIN ROOM – 18+ www.espy.com.au, www.ticketek.com.au 132 849 & Oztix outlets TUESDAY 1 MARCH SYDNEY, MANNING BAR – 18+ www.manningbar.com 1300 762 545, www.ticketek.com.au 132 849 & Oztix outlets Title: Re: Metal news for Australia fans - concerts etc. Post by: The Eagle Warrior on February 12, 2011, 06:29:51 pm Nevermore
“American-bred heavy metal doesn't get any better than this.” – Eduardo Rivadavia (Allmusic.com) Seattle’s Nevermore have ensnared and entertained metal minds the world over for nearly two decades. With a string of seven critically acclaimed studio albums; Nevermore have etched out their own legend into the metal mythos. For the first time in 5 years, they will bring their impassioned brand of uncompromising heavy metal to Australian audiences. This will be the first chance for Australia’s metal maniacs to hear material from Nevermore’s latest release, “The Obsidian Conspiracy”, live in concert. Since the release of their first album in 1995, critics and fans have debated how to describe Nevermore. Often called “thrash” or “progressive”, these labels are more limitations rather than descriptions. Nevermore encompass the sensibilities of traditional metal with emphasis on melody, complexity, aggression and energy. Their lyrics are conceptual, intelligent and dramatic, delivered with peerless power and conviction by vocalist Warrel Dane. Complimenting Dane are the guitar histrionics of the technical but tasteful virtuoso, Jeff Loomis. Rounding the band out are the ferociously tight rhythm section of bassist Jim Sheppard and drummer Van Williams. With as much emphasis on song writing as they place on musicianship, Nevermore have built their global following through extensive touring (with bands as diverse as Disturbed and Dream Theater) and the undeniable merits of their unique brand of twisted technical metal. Over the past 15 years, Nevermore’s discography has grown in intricacy, intensity and quality. Albums such as 1996’s “The Politics of Ecstasy”, 2000’s “Dead Heart In a Dead World” and 2005’s “The Godless Endeavor” have been heralded as modern metal classics by both fans and critics alike. The band’s latest studio effort, “The Obsidian Conspiracy”, produced by Soilwork’s Peter Wichers, has been similarly acclaimed. Peter Carnbro (ultimate-guitar.com) found the album to be “…an extremely solid effort, that manages to bring something new to the band’s sound without completely altering it.” Scott Alisoglu (Blabbermouth.com) describes the album as “…another mighty release from the Seattle stalwarts.” Nevermore return in 2011 is sure to be a highlight whether you’re head banging in the pit, or standing back in awe of the musicianship. This is one metal-heads won’t dare miss. QUIET RIOT is a Hard Rock phenomenon! The first Heavy Metal band to top the USA pop charts at #1 on Billboard magazine. The quartet became an overnight sensation thanks to their monster smash album Metal Health (with sales exceeding 10 million) which spawned 2 hit singles that have become synonymous with heavy metal: "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Metal Health". WARRANT first came into the spotlight with their debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich. The single "Heaven" reached #1 in Rolling Stone and #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Next came the 2x Platinum album Cherry Pie and the gold album Dog Eat Dog. Warrant's albums have achieved sales of over 10 million. LA GUNS got their start on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip over 20 years ago. Formed in 1986 and signed with Polygram Records in 1987, they recorded their first album that summer, “L.A. Guns”, which sold over 750,000 copies and earned the band its first gold album award in 1988. Who said Rock n' Roll was dead? A triple pack of rock is coming our way this November with three of the world's biggest 80s bands about to hit Oz. Music reporter Nui Te Koha told Triple M Melbourne's Hot Breakfast that Motley Crue and Whitesnake are as good as locked in, while one of the members from Poison will complete the massive triple bill. "Motley Crue is now firmed up and looking like October/November at the end of the year with Whitesnake and somebody from Poison, nothing sorted out on the Poison front," Nui said. Nui added that Poison frontman Bret Michaels is looking like the man who's coming down under. All that's left to say is get ready to rock because it's going to be a monster of a show. with special guests SIENNA SKIES and HAND OF MERCY There are bands that fade into obscurity, copying what has gone before. There are bands that push boundaries and excite audiences worldwide. In September Australia will lay witness to a band that is challenging perceptions of what Metalcore can be, Michigan USA’s For The Fallen Dreams. For The Fallen Dreams have worked hard to create a following in the over saturated modern scene, since 2003 they have released 3 albums including 2011’s hugely successful Back Burner through Rise Records. Despite minor line-up changes in recent times, For The Fallen Dreams have kept up their hard touring schedule, honing their live show and taking audiences captive night after night across the US, Europe and the rest of the world. They will return to Australia for the second time this September, having visited before with The Red Shore in late 2008 for a run of blisteringly heavy metal shows still talked about by those in attendance. National support will come from two of Sydney’s finest bands challenging on a national level, Sienna Skies and Hand Of Mercy. Sienna Skies are still riding high on a wave of support, with each successive tour they are turning heads and winning hearts. The bands blend of keyboard melody and abrasive metal riffage are a potent combination and have helped them win supports alongside the likes of Confession, Attack Attack and Oh Sleeper. SiennaSkies are destined for huge things and this is a perfect opportunity to see them in a tight live environment while you still can. Hand Of Mercy are the most humble rockers you will find, their down to earth approach to their craft comes across in their music and live performance and makes them a truly important band in 2011. Their debut album The Fallout has propelled them to greater heights, its combination of catchy hooks, anthemic chorus and crushing breakdowns whipping crowds into a fury wherever the band touches down. In September 2011, a stagnant scene gets the boost some say it needs with international superstars For The Fallen Dreams being joined by local sensations Sienna Skies and Hand Of Mercy for an Australian Tour that will take in every major city and leave audiences craving more in its wake. Due to unforeseen circumstances American metal act Sevendust will no longer be appearing alongside Avenged Sevenfold for their Nightmare Australian tour. Frontier Touring wishes to advise that replacement support bands will be announced shortly. Avenged Sevenfold have spent the last month dominating the European festival circuit, headlining Rock Am Ring in Germany, Download Festival in the UK and Graspop in Belgium. It’s been three long years, but now Avenged Sevenfold return to Australia for a gargantuan headlining tour. Don’t miss one of the biggest heavy rock bands in the world as they decimate some of Australia’s largest venues with their blistering live show this Winter. According to Australia's long-running rock station Triple M, there are rumblings of a VAN HALEN headlining tour of Australia taking place early next year. Triple M music reporter Nui Te Koha told the Hot Breakfast two promoters have gone in and spoken to VAN HALEN management following last week's cancelation of the Soundwave Revolution festival, which VAN HALEN was set to co-headline. "This will be an arena tour," he revealed. "VAN HALEN has got an album coming out really soon. Two promoters have gone in and said, 'This Soundwave Revolution thing was a debacle. We want to tour the band and it will happen early next year.'" VAN HALEN was supposed to play five shows in Australia in late September and early October as part of the Soundwave Revolution festival, but the entire event was abruptly scrapped by the promoters, who cited the exit of a second, unnamed headliner and low ticket sales as the reasons for the plug being pulled. The festival's lineup also included ALICE COOPER, HELLYEAH, HOLE, BAD RELIGION, ALTER BRIDGE and PANIC! AT THE DISCO, among others. Australia's Triple M Radio reported that AEROSMITH was the second headliner that promoters were trying to secure, but were unable to do so. According to The Pulse Of Radio, one theory suggested that the cancellation was the fault of another act rumored to be on the bill, LIMP BIZKIT. But singer Fred Durst was quick to shoot that down, saying online, "We were never on the bill to play any festival down under. So it looks like VAN HALEN cancels and we get thrown into the mix." There was in fact a lot of speculation that VAN HALEN itself pulled out of the festival, but the Van Halen News Desk reported adamantly that the band had nothing to do with the cancellation of the event. The Australian shows would have been VAN HALEN's first since its reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth wrapped up in the summer of 2008. The final cover image for the North American edition of former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans's new book, "Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside AC/DC", can be seen below. The first-ever book by a member of Bon Scott-era AC/DC is due in November 2011 from Bazillion Points books and is now available for pre-order at www.dirtydeedsbook.com. Mark Evans recorded countless rock anthems with AC/DC on the groundbreaking releases "High Voltage", "TNT", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", "Let There Be Rock", and the '74 "Jailbreak" EP. At nineteen years old in 1975, Mark Evans joined AC/DC, one of the hardest-working and loudest barroom bands in Australia. In the next few years AC/DC recorded a string of bestselling albums, and Mark found himself headlining world tours and living the life of a bona fide rock star. His memoir, "Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC", is the first bio written by a band insider during the early years, giving insight into the struggles and camaraderie that fueled the rise of hard rock's most successful group. His likeable stories capture the energy and essence of Malcolm Young, Angus Young, Phil Rudd, and the late Bon Scott. Rock and roll icons like George Harrison, Gene Simmons, Phil Lynott, Alice Cooper, Ronnie Wood, Ahmet Ertegun, and members of METALLICA feature as well. "The aggressive attitude that AC/DC had towards Australian bands continued when we shifted overseas," ,b>Evans says. "The world's bigger bands became our new targets. Who the fuck did these pricks think they were? We saw a few of the so-called headline acts and straight away knew that we had nothing to fear." ABC Sydney's "Breakfast With Adam Spencer" recently conducted an interview with Mark Evans. In this extended chat, which can be streamed using the audio player below, Mark shares memories of the band's early music videos, of original lead singer Bon Scott, and how it felt to be dropped from the band at its height. (http://www.themetalforge.com/images/reviews/acdc-live_at_river_plate-dvd.jpg) After breaking an eight year drought with the release of Black Ice in 2008, rock ‘n’ roll legends AC/DC once again hit the road in support of the album. The ensuing tour (The Black Ice World Tour) was another mammoth undertaking for the veteran act, with the tour seeing the band play in front of more than five million fans in more than twenty-eight countries over a twenty month period. In celebration of the tour’s overwhelming success AC/DC have put together a new live D.V.D. Live at River Plate. Filmed in Buenos Aires’ renowned River Plate Stadium over three nights in December 2009 in front of two hundred thousand fans, Live At River Plate is a defining testament to AC/DC’s continued status as the world’s biggest and hardest rock ‘n’ roll act. Shot with thirty two high definition cameras, and directed by David Mallet (who’s worked extensively with AC/DC over the years via promotional video clips and on 1992’s live film Live at Donington and 1996’s No Bull), Live at River Plate is a visual masterpiece, with every aspect of the band’s huge stage show (the train is quite impressive, and Rosie seems to get bigger every year. And then of course there’s the bell, the lengthy ego ramp, the fireworks and the massive video screens, etc), their individual performance and the positively massive size of the Argentinean venue and those contained within captured in all its rocking glory. Set list wise, Live at River Plate doesn’t boast any real genuine surprises, with many of the band’s classics (Back in Black, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Thunderstruck, Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, You Shook Me All Night Long, T.N.T., Let There Be Rock, Highway to Hell and For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)) remaining true to the set list that AC/DC has delivered year in/year out. But that’s not to say that AC/DC are relying solely on their past, with tracks such as Rock ‘N’ Roll Train, Big Jack, Black Ice and War Machine from Black Ice injecting some fresh blood into proceedings to keep both the band and the fans on their toes. Performance wise, the band are in top form. Angus Young may not be moving around with the speed he used to years ago, and Brian Johnson’s vocals struggle a little more to hit some of the higher notes in some songs, but its hard to knock the band’s ability to serve up rock ‘n’ roll in its purest form, and keep the audience moving (and you really have to see this D.V.D. to believe it. These Argentinean’s really do move as one! It’s an incredible sight to behold) from the first chord struck, right through to the last note. In terms of bonuses, there’s the three minute animation sequence that opens the show (which cleverly mixes older AC/DC themes with newer ones) and the 25 minute documentary The Fan, The Roadie, The Guitar Tech & The Meat (which looks at the band’s stay in Argentina, their crew, the diehard fans and the band’s love of steak!). AC/DC may be showing their age these days, but it certainly doesn’t affect their shows one bit. Brian Johnson pretty much sums it up when he says, ‘We don’t speak very good Spanish, but I think we speak rock ‘n’ roll pretty good!’ The crowd certainly agrees with the sentiment, and I do too. Live at River Plate isn’t quite up to the task of robbing Live at Donington of its classic status, but it’s still one hell of a show. Without question, this release comes highly recommended to AC/DC diehards. Title: Re: Metal news for Australia fans - concerts etc. Post by: The Eagle Warrior on September 07, 2011, 09:22:15 pm ALICE COOPER: Headline Theatre Performances Announced
Chugg Entertainment is thrilled to put all suspicions at bay, allay all fears, and quash all rumours, as today we confirm that come September, not only will the master of macabre, Alice Cooper, be here for his headline theatre performances in Sydney and Melbourne, but he will also be adding shows in Brisbane, Perth and a second night in Melbourne. Since the cancellation earlier this month of the Soundwave Revolution festival tour, many of the affected artists have been rumoured as not making their way down to Australia this September. But Alice is definitely coming. Kicking off in New Zealand with a show at The Trusts Stadium in Auckland on Thursday 22nd September, the tour then hits Australia to kick off a run of dates starting in Brisbane on Saturday 24th September at the Brisbane Convention Centre, then down to Sydney for the Enmore Theatre show on Monday 26th September. Melbourne-bound, Alice Cooper will then play two nights at the Palais Theatre; the already scheduled Thursday 29th September show, and the newly added Friday 30th September date. Then it's west they head for the last show on the Australian run in Perth at Challenge Stadium on Sunday 2nd October. Alice brings his No More Mr Nice Guy tour, which has played to audiences in North America, South America and Europe since May, and which has received rave reviews from both fans and media worldwide. His highly anticipated return to Australia & New Zealand coincides with the release of his new album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare, out through Sony Music on Friday 23rd September. The album, produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin - who also produced the original Welcome To My Nightmare album in 1975 - features a host of special guests (including the three other surviving members of the original band, "Nightmare" guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, Alice's touring band, Vince Gill, Rob Zombie, and, most shockingly, Ke$ha) as Alice revisits his legendary nightmares. The original 'Nightmare' release is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and certified Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more. More than 35 years later, Alice and Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humour for a new generation. As if that weren't exciting enough, this run of trans-Tasman shows will also mark the introduction of a new member of Alice's touring band, fittingly enough in this pocket of the world. Australia's own eminent guitar prodigy, Orianthi, debuts with Alice, joining guitarist Steve Hunter (who famously toured and recorded with Alice on Welcome To My Nightmare and Lou Reed with Rock 'n Roll Animal, among many others) and Tommy Henriksen, along with drummer Glenn Sobel and longtime bassist Chuck Garric. In what is certain to be a sensory overloading spectacle, the man who first introduced horror imagery to rock 'n roll, and whose stagecraft and showmanship have permanently transformed the genre, will be blowing the roof off venues from coast to coast. "Knives Of The Betrayed", the new video from the Australian extreme thrash outfit TRUTH CORRODED, can be seen below. The clip is a culmination of tour footage from the band's April/May 2011 Australian and Asian tours with HYPNO5E. "Knives Of The Betrayed" comes off TRUTH CORRODED's latest album, "Worship The Bled", which was made available on September 16 via Ultimhate Records. The CD was recorded between July and September 2010 and was mixed and mastered byJonas Kjellgren of SCAR SYMMETRY at Black Lounge Studio in Avesta, Sweden. Drums on the album were laid down by Kevin Talley (DAATH, MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA), who "really added a great intensity to our new songs — offering his distinctive style, while also honing in on our sound and capturing the feel of our influences," according to bassist Greg Shaw. "It has taken the band to the next level, and built on the intensity of our last album. The continued involvement of Jonas has consolidated the sound, and aside from his great skill as an engineer, he has offered some awesome shred to the album's opening song, 'Knives Of The Betrayed'." The "Worship The Bled" cover artwork was created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations, who has previously worked with such bands as DEW-SCENTED, ZYKLON, SODOM, NORTHER, ABORTED and ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET. Shaw stated, "Killustrations have created some incredible album covers, and we really felt that Björn could capture the imagery we were looking for. The artwork conveys the message behind the album title — how the worship of monotheistic religion, political and economic ideologies and the waging of war have bled modern civilization. We gave Killustrations the idea and that was the image created — it is confronting and communicates the title of the album." "Worship The Bled" track listing: 01. Knives Of The Betrayed (feat. Jonas Kjellgren) 02. Hunt All Heroes 03. Pride Of Demise 04. Nothing Left Alive 05. The Great Waste Of Flesh 06. Scavengers 07. Dragged Beneath 08. Remnants 09. Tear Out The Eyes Of God 10. AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2011 with special guests MORTAL SIN 4ARM Destruction are legendary in thrash circles, and the best news of all is that they are back. Not only with a new album, but thrash fans all over the country will be warming up their necks for some serious head-banging at the news that Destruction will be touring Australia this November. Joining them for the ride will be Australian thrash pioneers, Mortal Sin, and established Melbourne act, 4ARM. For almost 30 years, the name Destruction has been almost synonymous with high energy thrash. The south German act has never veered from their ethos of never backing down from creating pure thrash. Now, the three-piece are back with another thrash metal gem, Day Of Reckoning, and will be unleashing it upon Australian audiences. Released earlier this year, the album shows the band at its most fierce, brutal and thrashy. Says vocalist Schmier of the album, “If you think Destruction is an old band, this album will prove you wrong! The speed and energy combined with a basic, fresh and aggressive production will make this record an outstanding classic of our long discography.” Beginning way back in 1985, Mortal Sin, could probably be considered Australia’s first thrash metal band. Their first album, Mayhemic Destruction, saw them gain much attention at home and abroad, while a quiet period during the 1990’s saw them emerge again in 2004 for a tour with Anthrax and a European tour. Now in 2011, the band is set to release their newest epic, Psychology Of Death, on September 23. Having just completed their third album, Submission For Liberty, 4ARM are chomping at the bit for its release. By joining this tour, fans are given the opportunity to experience some of the album’s ferocity and supercharged riffage in a live setting, before it’s 2012 release. This triple header of thrash will be devastating metal fans around the country. So get on board and do not miss Destruction causing devastation and ruin in a town near you. Performing for the very first time in Australia, Cavalera Conspiracy are set to cause mayhem around the nation performing at all Big Day Out festivals and select east coast shows. Cavalera Conspiracy was created following a decade long silence between Max and Iggor, the two brothers who formed the legendarily trailblazing heavy metal band Sepultura as teenagers together in 1984. Across six studio albums the Brazilian punishers perfected the art of metal (look no further than thrash classics like Beneath the Remains and Arise) while exploring the underbelly of third world political issues and broadening the genre's horizons with an exploration of indigenous culture, culminating with the landmark Roots album in 1996. Max left Sepultura and formed Soulfly in the late 90’s, whose seven albums have garnered worldwide success and acclaim. Iggor stayed in Sepultura for a few more albums before splitting himself in January, 2006. A few months later the phone rang. It was Iggor calling Max to set aside the bullshit that had pursued them both in the press during the ten year period since they had last played together. Less than two years later the metal world was turned upside by the debut album from Cavalera Conspiracy. Max Cavalera is very forthright about the fact that Cavalera Conspiracy is a metal band. "Cavalera is super metal, it's supposed to be metal, it's not supposed to have anything else but metal and hardcore in it. The new album is even heavier and more aggressive than the first one." While that's all of course true and metal is known to be a very aggressive and sometimes negative genre, there's an overwhelming positivity surrounding the Cavalera story. See Max and Iggor Cavalera unleash Cavalera Conspiracy in major cities and regional centre’s across the nation. There is no other band around who can match the audacity, intensity and progressive nature of SYSTEM OF A DOWN. With SYSTEM OF A DOWN operating at such astonishing creative and emotional heights they quite simply leave the rest of the herd scrabbling in the dust. It was 2001’s ‘Toxicity’ that cemented their reputation. With every track tightly coiled, urgent and “cast in layers upon layers of aural intricacy, Toxicity charters new frontiers, yet it’s still grinding rock at its most deafening.” – L.A Weekly In 2005, against all odds, the completed Mezmerize/Hypnotize project was unleashed and it quickly became impossible to think of it as anything else than one epic piece of work. SYSTEM OF A DOWN delivered, and in doing so have given us one of the great rock double albums of all time….”rarely are albums this thrillingly original”. Q Mag As the headliners for the 2012 Soundwave Festival, SYSTEM OF A DOWN will be bringing their frantic, frenetic and brutal live assault to Sydney and Melbourne for two headline sideshows only. The two tracks were the only AC/DC recordings featuring Evans, who was subsequently replaced by Bon Scott. The single debuted on May 8, 1975 and reached no. 19 on the Australian chart. DRAGONFORCE’s fifth studio album ‘The Power Within’ has just been released locally through 3Wise Records and is a ten track monster which “they've carried it off with their usual cocky assurance” – Metal Hammer To put it simply THE SWORD are a flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping outfit, a chrome-plated war machine that lauds over the blackened sky. Coming off 2010's acclaimed concept album ‘Warp Riders’, THE SWORD approached their latest offering from a new perspective. In 1934, Kemal Atatürk delivered the following words to the first Australians, New Zealanders and British to visit the Gallipoli battlefields. This was later inscribed on a monolith at Ari Burnu Cemetery (ANZAC Beach) which was unveiled in 1985. "Those heroes that shed their blood And lost their lives. You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. August 21, 2014 One of the most anticipated projects in Australian heavy music history has been released. "Metal Down Under" was an epic undertaking, over two years in the making and chronicles over 40 years of Australian metal heritage. Since the late 1970s, a thriving underground scene of extreme music has continued to evolve in Australia. From grindcore, thrash, death metal, black metal, hardcore, doom, melodic metal, sludge, power metal and the many more subgenres that exist, "Metal Down Under" traverses the full spectrum and takes a look at the bands, people and events that shaped this unique slice of Australian history. More than just the music, we meet the characters that make metal in Australia what it is today. From promoters, radio hosts and magazine editors, to band members and extreme fans, "Metal Down Under" introduces you to a world you either didn't want to know existed or have been a part of all your life. Featuring over 40 exclusive interviews as well as rare archive footage and photographs from Metal For The Brain, Metal For Melbourne, Big Day Out, music videos, live concerts and much more, "Metal Down Under" captures the past, present and future of the Australian metal scene and condenses it into three hours of riveting, essential viewing. It is the brainchild of lifelong metal fan and filmmaker Nick Calpakdjian, who spent two long years traveling the country interviewing the who's who of the Australian scene. With massive support, some crowdfunding and donations, the mammoth project has finally been completed and is ready to share with Australian metal fans and people everywhere. Written and directed by Calpakdjian, produced by Animus Industries and with cinematography by Adrian Price, "Metal Down Under" is presented as three 55-minute episodes and comes with a bunch of extras. (http://www.themetalforge.com/images/articles/trivium/trivium_ascendency_logo_edit.jpg) (http://www.themetalforge.com/images/articles/inflames/in_flames-logo-2011.jpg) With a swag of awards and sold out stadium tours across the globe left in their wake, TRIVIUM will be returning to Australia this November with very special guests IN FLAMES. Widely tipped for greatness (some prophecies come true!) after their successful sophomore release, ‘Ascendancy’ in 2005, Kerrang! declared it “the most skull-peeling collection of pulverising metal grooves and fretboard annihilation you'll hear in a long time.” Four studio albums later, TRIVIUM are continuing their climb towards metal greatness with the release of their new album, ‘Vengeance Falls’. “Drawing together crunchy riffs, snarling vitriol, blistering shred-fests and stadium sized choruses it ticks all the boxes.” – Alternative Press IN FLAMES has proven to be an unstoppable force in heavy music and have proven time and time again that they refuse to stand still. From the first opus in 1994 entitled ”Lunar Strain” to their new album ”Siren Charms”, the Swedish forefathers of Death Metal has risen to great heights in music history. They continue to take risks, push boundaries and challenge themselves and sees them “taking their game several steps forward, leaving both imitators and naysayers far behind.” It’s rare when two heavyweights of metal tour together…and it’s now Australia’s turn to see TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES performing full headline sets encompassing their entire career. German a cappella metal sensation Van Canto (famous for infusing classic heavy, power and symphonic metal influences, creating what they call “hero metal a cappella”) will make their debut live appearance in Australia next year. The Festival of Voices will be hosting a workshop in Hobart, Tasmania from July 3rd til July 12th, showcasing various singers from Australia and around the world. Singers of all ages and abilities will have the rare opportunity to work, learn and perform with Van Canto over six incredible days of workshop and concert for a singing experience that will stay with them forever. When we started Van Canto in 2006 we never thought that singing a cappella would bring us to the other side of the world! We are sure this will be another highlight in the band’s history and hopefully a good choice for all festival visitors. – Stefan Schmidt Take note. Five singers, one drummer. No guitars, no bass, no keyboards…expect an unbelievable melodic metal experience. Don’t miss your chance to learn and work alongside one of Germany’s biggest metal sensations. Bands, singers, songwriters and choirs are urged to attend this once in a lifetime experience. A full list of Australian tour dates will be announced soon. In the mean time, register your details at the Festival of Voice website and secure your spot. Follow the band via their official Facebook page. WORKSHOP REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN AT WWW.FESTIVALOFVOICES.COM Early rate available until March 13, 2015 // *Suitable for singers of all abilities, 16 + Making their Australian debut for the Festival of Voices in July 2015, VAN CANTO are quite simply unlike any a cappella group you would have heard. VAN CANTO have melded the oldest form of music, the voice, with heavy metal and the result is astonishing. Their vocal talent and ear for harmonies is impeccable and their approach to a cappella is unique and inspiring. Their music is powerful, anthemic and contemporary. There is a rich deepness to their sound that sets them apart and gives them an ancient feel in many ways. Next July, thousands of choristers will descend on Hobart, Tasmania to perform and participate in the 2015 Festival of Voices, Australia’s premier celebration of the human voice. Transforming Hobart into a Singing City, expect a magnificent 10-day program of performances, community events and – uniquely – workshops run by the artists. Singers of all ages and abilities will have the rare opportunity to work, learn and perform with VAN CANTO over six incredible days of workshop and concert for a singing experience that will stay with them forever. VAN CANTO began their careers as a conventional metal band, but their desire to do something more vocal orientated inspired their transformation into the world’s first a cappella metal band. Their success has swept through the European festival scene. “Vibrancy and passion were at the forefront of this performance and those singing along realised they were privy to a sophisticated performance by the ancestors of power metal.” – Faster Louder (Metro Theatre review) “Germany's premier power metal export.” – Dead Rhetoric “These German geniuses were responsible for the biggest releases in power metal history, the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums, that still remain some of the best power metal out there today.” – Metalwani “still the leaders of the genre they helped create.” – heavymetal.about.com “the main inspiration behind the power metal genre” – Metal Obsession “one of those shows that stays in your memory forever.” – Free Magazine “The German powerhouse of the genre brought their A game, or rather their A+ game, and proved why, after almost 30 years in the business, HELLOWEEN is still a force to be reckoned with.” – Metal Storm “HELLOWEEN is back...” – Hard Rock Haven When you think of Power Metal, one of the first bands that come to your mind is the German Legends HELLOWEEN! It’s not just a coincidence – they’ve played countless festivals all over the globe to a massive audience, and furthermore, they have taken their enthralling live performances as headline tours all over the world as well. Now, 30 years into their career, HELLOWEEN finally make their triumphant return to Australia. Incredibly, this will be the second time ever they have toured Australia and their first time ever in Adelaide & Perth! With the 15 albums they have released so far, they have sold well over 8 million copies, and have achieved several Gold and Platinum awards. The band shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, and after over 100 sold out shows in support of their previous album, the band is on a mission to break their own records in support of their latest offering. 3 decades into their career, the band is on their absolute top form – creatively, as well as on the live show front. Hailed as one of the inventors of the power/speed metal genre, HELLOWEEN continue to break records and get better and better as the years continue. Not too many bands in the world can say that they’ve been getting better with age, but HELLOWEEN is a band than has mastered and continues to break ground in one of the most thrilling sub-genres of metal. The fiery riffs and solos backed by the relentless thumping of the double kick drums and the soaring vocals ensure a glorious night of headbanging, sing alongs and circle pits. A HELLOWEEN gig is a party like no other. The legions of fans are sure to come out in numbers and this is one gig that will stay in your memory for a long, long time – be sure not to miss this one!
