286  General / Epic Rock Chat / Halloween! on: November 01, 2004, 04:56:32 pm
For those who may be wanting to reply to this thread angrily, no I was not trying to spell Helloween Wink

I'm talkin that wonderful time of year where we all get to dress up like something, but not get laughed at for doing it Cheesy  I for one know I dress up in random costumes throughout the year just for the fun of it.

ANYWAYS!  There are bound to be a few crazies like myself around who went out and have a camera of sorts around when they did so post your goofy costumes and stories eh!  Let's see how very merry our metal-head Halloween's were!

I for one, went as THIS:

YARR MATEYS!!!!  By doing so, I even pulled off a record 11lbs of booty in 2 hours!  SHIVER ME TIMBERSSSS!!!!!!!

Came home, sorted out the booty, listened to some Helloween (what better band for that day?!?) and watched cheesey horror flicks with my friends!  Thar be good times had by all!

Now, I must warn those faint of heart and weak of stomache to avert your eyes from the horrors of.....LORAN!!!

This pic is the PURE UNEDITED truth behind the band!  Wink

So it's not just me that thinks the opening bands have a better sound setup than the headliners then!  Cheesy

Being in west coast Canada we don't get many metal bands here.....mostly Children of Bodom who rock the stage HARD.  Go Bodom!!

But in all of the shows I've gone to, one headlined by Dimmu Borgir (wen't for the opening acts obviously) and one for Iced Earth (Sad  Why'd Barlow have to leave....), the opeing acts were like unto gods compared with the headliners.  All you could hear from Borgir or Iced were the kick drums, bass and a select few vocals.  (REALLY high pitched for Ripper and the annoying 'BROWWW' sound from Borgir)  Boo I say!

Anyways, glad you've been turned on to Lordi Cheesy  They'll 'Rock the Hell Outa You!' heh heh heh.

:-/  Sorry to hear Nightwish wasn't as good as they should have been.....odd that they would have played Phantom given the countless other songs far superior to it.  But atleast you got to see them!  I doubt they'd ever come here to Vancouver...... Cry  But if they do guess who'll be first in line!  WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Bwahaha, instrument-wanking Cheesy

First off, YAY for Creed!  The more Nightwish the better I say, personally I'm in love with Tarja's voice.

Next up!  If I may suggest,

Elegy - Forbidden Fruit  (Check out the track I Believe if you havn't heard them Wink)
Paradise Lost - Symbol of Life

The Paradise Lost album may seem a bit out of place but it's GREATLY changed from the old albums.  Check out Small Town Boy, Erased and I Am Nothing for instance.  QUITE the improvement, no more growling and improved talent on the instruments.

There are two tracks on the album that wouldn't fit in at all however....Channel for the Pain and quite possibly Perfect Mask.  Good songs but they don't cut the genre of ERR.

Well, that's my little addition to the conversation!
Cheat commandos, rock ROCK on!!
