3  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: The information button on: September 06, 2010, 06:20:04 pm
well, if things dont go well for me, i'll have some free time to do this.

the reason i say that, is because as of sept. 19th i'll be unemployed... the hotel i work at is closing down for an expansion and huge renovations, and they gave everyone the boot for it. fun fun.

we'll see how things go, and i'll let you know in a couple weeks.
4  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Shoutbox in "Read-only" mode... on: September 02, 2010, 04:27:00 am
not sure what happened, or why, as i wasn't around when that happened, but for the record, ERR does not actually control many aspects of the shoutbox, this is handled by an outside website called Shoutmix.  Perhaps they were making some code adjustments on thier end.

just another reason that makes iron maiden such an epic win of a group.

Its sad that all that shit got damaged/destroyed, but i wholeheartedly applaud them for continuing the show.

Hi guys,

Thanks everybody!

It's about time I didn't show up on this forum. Thanks for the nice words you've spent on this subject, I was as upset as you guys of being "forced" to leave the band in that way.
Unfortunately, I had to move too far away to continue, but I can grant that the relationship between me and the guys in the band is still very good.

Thanks for the tireless support!

We all wish you the best of luck in any direction you take..

and welcome to canada, neighbour Cheesy
8  General / Epic Rock News / Re: New Website Feature Requests on: August 06, 2010, 04:21:22 am
I think should get more voices of metal singers  on the radio  for example powerporg f this year  going to have  leaves eyes delain and epica coming to usa if someone could take a recored message from them   like the one with kamelot 's singer  Cool

this isn't specific to the website design/features itself, to which this thread is based.

How about having the webpage's "title" attribute change when the song changes. Like it would say "ERR now playing: Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark" in the browser's application frame, or the tab's name in the more modern tabbed browsers.

It looks like a javascript event is already updating the "now playing" box so adding something like this should be a simple tweak.

I will look into this, but make no promises. Smiley

I know about the weighting system, but that only reflects the views of one user on one particular song/album/artist.  What I'm suggesting would reflect everybody else's views towards said song/album/artist.  If you've got one guy that keeps requesting (bad example) Glorious Janitors every chance he gets, that's gonna get played a lot (every X hours, depending on how the request rules are) and seem a lot more popular than it actually is.  But with a system like I suggest in place, the station managers will be able to see that while that song/album/artist gets played a lot, everybody else hates it/them and wishes they would be gone forever (again, has nothing to do with Glorious Janitors, I know they aren't on the station anymore).  Like I said, it would give a lot of valuable feedback to the station managers when deciding what stays and what goes with regards to the song library.  What the station managers would actually do with this information is up to them, but maybe once every few months or so they could start a poll to get rid of one of the most disliked songs/albums/artists.

I would like to add a feedback/rating system at some point, but i can't see this being done anytime this year, as it would require quite a bit of planning on my part.  This could then be turned into another way to display albums for selection... Highest Rated (based on the average of all ratings for all songs) or other formats, ect.  just a thought.

Chrystallic pointed out that the image on Astral Doors - Of the Son and the Father cover art is Cloudbreaker and should be this pic

ironically though, both albums are the same, just different title for the one released in japan.
12  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Temporary disabling of certain bands on: June 28, 2010, 12:46:40 pm
Random requests are never truly random.  Maybe we need a random request button.  Make SAM do its job once in a while.

I had already been authorized to present a random request button, but i just havn't taken the time yet to code this...  but it is something you can expect in the not so distant future..

14  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Temporary disabling of certain bands on: June 18, 2010, 09:01:14 am
You know, an alternative would be to get rid of the display of the top 15 for a while and see what happens.....

Many people may be requesting those bands simply because there they are, on the list, you know?

What do you think of that idea?  I wouldn't be opposed to disabling the top 15 lists for a little while.....

I dont personally support this.  We took the time to determine that setting the top lists top artists only was the way to go when we rebulit the site from the basic samphp site.  I feel that if we do disable that, it would leave a large void of data on the right block as well.  We would need to think of something to place there in its stead, because empty space is fail. lol.

I personally believe that the request system, (and the information displayed) is fine as-is..

The bands on the top artist list, are there mostly because they are popular, play extremely great music, and 99.9999995% of the time, they completely deserve to be on said list.  It also provides a starting point for people who are not familiar with this genre.  What better place than start with some of the best bands in the industry!

That's my 2 cents.. (and i even told myself earlier i wouldn't reply to this thread.. *facepalm*).. had to voice my opinion.

more female led bands? hehe...

is it a more gothy lower tones or more higher pitched muteable like old nightwish? Tongue

i'm almost afraid to check for myself these days, never know what will grace your ears.
