No, I don't think they should be removed, Epic doesn't HAVE to be English only at all.

But that's not a discussion for this forum  Grin

Ok, some sense is kicking in now Tongue

Fabio, yes, you are right, that's what I've been saying all along, FILTER the songs, the music is almost all good but the growls mess up the music.

For example, I LOVE Children Of Bodom's music, dang! it's IMPRESSIVE (although they're not in ERR, I think)... until the vocals come in... Undecided

Filter some songs, leave others, but maintain the overall Epic concept brought by Kailef that we all like.

...Look, you people who "can't stand" the growls.......get over it!!!  Tongue   Grin

Well, NO, I won't and I never will (nothing personal fabio Tongue).

To put what I just said into perspective, if I get over it I'd probably go listen to another station (if more and more growls and guttural voices are being played in ERR)..., so as I said: NO, I won't and I never will.

There is also the possibility that the songs with the growlies are being requested in a row.......but this just further supports the fact that our great listeners are enjoying these "epic" artists...

Totally contradictory, or 'erroneous' I should say. "...the growlies..." are NOT Epic.

However, as you said "...our great listeners are enjoying these 'beep' artists and that they do belong here.", that's happening because they were mistakenly (in my opinion) introduced to the station. And, uh, NO (again), probably the don't belong here (I mean some of the artist's songs).

The numbers you mention are circumstantial based on my statement above, hence, they N/A. Interesting nevertheless.

What I wanted to say is that there are so many awesome songs from After Forever, Epica, Therion and others that IMHO it'd be a loss of great music to exclude them only because of the name of the band. *This band growls, this band growls not,...* I think what we need is a "middle path", to avoid one extreme and the other

110% agree, that's EXACTLY what I meant with 'filtering'.

And to Kailef, it's totally understandable what you say at the end of your post there, I said the same thing in my other one "...I know he does everything in his power to satisfy the station's listeners..." and I'm confident that whatever you decide to do it will be good for the listeners. I TOTALLY agree with the idea you mention, it definitely shows the 'mid way' between growls and Epic we'd all like.

And BTW, I edited the Poll again and added a 'HELL YES!' option, it wasn't a fair poll without even options, now it's all good Smiley

Well, not 'remove' them but FILTER them and their music.

I chose ERR for the power/melodic/epic/bombastic music style, that's the 'format' I was sold ERR with, but sometimes there's one growling/guttural voice song after the other, and honestly, that's annoying and I turn off my jetAudio and turn on my Winamp. Even, after several minutes of listening to my own music I still believe I'm listening to ERR... the ONLY thing that makes me realize that I'm not listening to ERR is actually the LACK of growling in the music, of course, I don't have guttural vocals in my music collection.

I think is incorrect to associate ERR with "A radio station with growling and guttural voices at a considerable degree when there are supposed to be either none or just a few".

In other words, if I wanted growls and gutturals I can EASILY choose another station from, there are plenty out there... you already know that.

Just a little more caution at the moment of including these bands can maintain the 'Epic image' ERR wants to portray.

Nonetheless, Kailef's work is EXTREMELY impressive in every sense and I know he does everything in his power to satisfy the station's listeners, but feedback from the people like this forum is part of the growth of the station. It's up to K to consider it or not.

I think a third choice should have been added:

3. HELL NO!!  Grin Grin

Ive always felt nauseated and disgusted when i hear a growling sound or guttural noise in a great song. I immediately feel that the song is ruined! Angry

Listeners request, I listen Smiley

Some of my favorite artists here feature growls, Cea Serin, Haggard, Mercenary, Adagio........

...but some bands which I enjoy them, combine their vocals as "the beauty and the beast" style ... Examples: Haggard, After Forever, Epica, Adagio,

ADAGIO!???... Shocked

I thought it would be interesting to know if most of the listeners here like hearing bands with growling, guttural vocals. Examples: Tristania, Battlelore, etc.
8  General / Epic Rock Chat / Suggestion for the album arts on: January 26, 2008, 09:38:26 am

I see that a lot of the album arts have very low resolution, and I see that there are 'two' images for the album arts: the thumbnail next to the artist's info and the larger image on the top right.

My suggestion: Why don't you use only one image-- the larger image- and from that image you user a software that generates the thumbnail on the fly when the artist's song starts playing.

I'm a Web Designer and I've done similar processes in partner with a programmer friend... but he's the one that has actually implemented the system I'm describing above, so any programmers here would know more about a specific solution than I.

Anyway, just an idea I had...

Thanks Mr. Kailef for such wonderful station.

Later, Zx.
