1  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Bunch of Canadian Bands that I would like to See on ERR on: December 29, 2014, 03:02:36 am

Hi guys, been a while since I've actively listened to ERR but i check the forums now and then.

I absolutely agree with Vortiene about the band Viathyn. I'm sure most listeners here would find them interesting and the second album, Cynosure, is exceptionally good. I've had some discussion with the songwriter and guitarist, Jacob Wright, through another website and I think this is a young band that deserves support.

I can heartily recommend this symphonic metal/rock opera album.
It is Ashes of the Reborn from Lebanese band - Ostura.

Glad to be of assistance  Cheesy

The Killer Angels by Civil War is one killer album. Featuring the ex-members of Sabaton and Nils Patrick Johansson on vocals, the blend of heavy and power metal fits right in with ERR
I fully recommend it.
5  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Any problem with a song, reporting here!! on: January 09, 2013, 09:09:58 pm

Serenade of Self-Destruction by Epica (Requiem for the Indifferent) does not have vocals in it. It was originally mistakenly released with only instrumental+choir, but was then later corrected, but apparently it is still the old, wrong version here on ERR.

I hope you can get the right version somehow, it's one of my favorite songs Smiley Thank you in advance!

I understand Nuclear Blast offers a free download to correct this and wonder whether ERR is able to use that due to the error.
6  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: Like/dislike system on: January 08, 2013, 09:19:59 pm
Personally, with the setup that ERR has, what would be the point of a like/dislike system? A dislike selection is not going to make the song stop playing like on Pandora, and a like selection is not going to cause the song to be played more. It's all user requests, so a like/dislike will be simply arbitrary and could facilitate drama if someone dislikes a song that someone else likes and requested, and drama ensues. I'd say just express your feelings and opinions about songs that are played (in a kind and non-judgmental way, of course) in the shoutbox, and add to the conversation that way instead of a button push.

Well said Knarl, I agree. Like! Cheesy
7  General / Top 10 lists / Re: Your Top Albums of 2012 (up to 20 max) on: December 20, 2012, 06:27:43 pm
I tend to operate behind the times a bit, waiting for others to filter out the good stuff for me  Cheesy
I have heard some good albums from 2012 though, so here are a few.

Damnation Angels - Bringer of Light: Stunning debut, best album I've heard from 2012.

Pertness - Frozen Time: Power metal from Switzerland but with a harder edge. Brilliant guitar work and drums. Vocals are a bit gruff otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Ensiferum - Unsung Heroes: I finally relented to listening to this band after reading so many positive things about this album. Again, the vocals are a bit gruff at times but the tunes are ridiculously catchy and some of the musioc is just impossibly good.

Wintersun - Time I: Need to listen to this more but it's pretty special at times.

Seven Kingdoms - The Fire is Mine: Read so many good things that I simply had to hear it. There's some quality power metal as individual tracks. As an album I was a bit underwhelmed because it is so one paced, it just all blended together.

Pathfinder - Fifth Element: I must admit to not having heard this but I've just listened to this band's debut in full and thought it was amazing. From all accounts, the follow-up is even better. I have no reason to doubt my sources so this is probably also a 5 star album for me.

Swiss band PERTNESS released their Frozen Time album this year. If you don't mind some vocals which are a bit gruff at times then this is an amazingly good album. Whilst not a fan of the vocals personally, I couldn't help but be impressed by the music.

Early reviews for the new album are very positive
10  General / Epic Rock News / Re: Happy Birthday, Kailef, 2012! on: October 14, 2012, 06:18:29 am
To the man who created the site where I learnt so much about power metal, happy birthday Kailef Cheesy  Hope you have a great day!

Great suggestion Aldwin. Check out Kailef's comments from April 28th on the main ERR page.
12  General / Off Topic / Re: ROCK BLOCK BIRTHDAYS on: September 10, 2012, 10:38:14 pm
I'll start things off by suggesting 'Wishing Well' by Angra because, kind of obviously, I'm wishing V to be well.
13  General / Off Topic / Re: Words of encouragement and inspiration for ~V~. on: July 14, 2012, 07:49:15 pm
Keep fighting V, with the knowledge that every single ERR listener is a member of your army!
14  General / Off Topic / Re: Troll named Savo - Soulcry - Warwar on: July 07, 2012, 10:51:09 pm
I came across Soulcry in the SB some weeks back. It is definitely a guy as we were having a conversation with LadyWoreBlack and he was looking for a girlfriend. Actually it was quite amusing but there was no chat about Savatage.  I agree that it's incredibly frustrating when users don't understand the request rules. Maybe they could be posted somewhere prominent?

Looks like Edu will be concentrating on Almah in future.
