3  General / Top 10 lists / Re: Top 6 albums that are kicking your lower back right now! on: February 06, 2018, 07:56:17 am
Time to update my list. Since... 2012  Shocked
I've been busy.  Grin

Crystal ViperQueen of the Witches (2017)

Often heralded as Poland’s best heavy/power metal band, Crystal Viper surely have done a lot of things right in the past few years, up to stirring up quite some
hype across the internet, not least thanks to front lady Marta Gabriel, who defies to submit to the paradigm of timid mouse or operatic fronter, but instead is the
epitome of what usually is dubbed a “metal queen”, with leather and studs, a Flying V and vocal chords made out of leather. Queen of the Witches is the
Katowice-based quartet’s sixth album and one that will further cement its status within the scene.

In This MomentBlack Widow (2014)

The black widow is probably one of the most popular
arachnids in the world, and her legacy has been used symbolically countless
times. So it is only natural to use that correlation in the case of the new In This Moment album, called ‘Black Widow’, whose imagery and sound
befit the characteristics and nature of the actual spider – from the colour
scheme of the album art to the dark and twisted sound of the album. This one
could well be the band’s most interesting and enterprising effort yet.

Liv MoonSymphonic Moon (2012)

Liv Moon is a symphonic power metal band that has what I would call a fairly typical Japanese sound. Their fourth record, Symphonic Moon, opens
with electronic samples, cinematic symphonic elements, and variable, slightly theatrical, and powerful female lead vocals. The singer seems to be
influenced by singers such as Kate Bush, but also the ABBA singers. The use of sometimes exaggeratedly poetic Japanese lyrics with a few passages
in other languages (such as English) is typical for the genre, and so are the topics around dark romanticism. From the first song on, you know exactly
what you have to expect for the upcoming fifty-three minutes, and this is very much a “love it or hate it” sort of genre.

SkilletUnleashed (2016)

Since breaking out, Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning Christian rockers SKILLET have been averaging a new album every three years since
2003's "Collide". In the wake of the release of 2013's "Rise", John Cooper — SKILLET's lead vocalist, bassist and co-founder — reportedly began writing the
songs for the band's new album, "Unleashed". After the band's last touring cycle for 2013's "Rise" ended in 2015, SKILLET once again tapped into the services
of their producer for 2006's "Comatose", Brian Howes. Working with Howes for half of "Unleashed", they next turned to the venerated Seth Mosley, Neal Avron
and Kevin Churko to complete the new album.

VolbeatSeal The Deal & Lets Boogie (2016)

I’ll start this review with a confession – one that I’ll whisper. I’ve never heard of Volbeat. In fact, if you’d
asked me last week what I knew about them, I’d probably have looked at you with a strange expression and
asked why you were asking me about Pokemon.

As it is, I now know how wrong I was. This is a band with a cracking back catalogue and, by all accounts, a
pretty huge following. With 2013’s Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies going Platinum in three countries, and
Gold in a further four, I’m slightly surprised that I’ve never heard of these guys before.

The Pretty RecklessGoing to Hell (2014)

Talented or otherwise, entertainers who dabble in both acting and music are ultimately on a hiding to nothing. For every cool cat like
Bowie, Waits and Sinatra, there are train-wrecks such as Keanu, Crowe and Joaquin. Cynics would rather perceive these multi-faceted
artists negatively, no matter how many Grammys Justin Timberlake wins, or Oscars go to Jared Leto. Sure, it doesn’t help when Paris Hilton, Lea Michele
and Leighton Meester jump onto whatever trendy bandwagon passes them, but this should not automatically discount such performers from a promising
dual career. One such talent is Meester’s rebellious former ‘Gossip Girl’ co-star Taylor Momsen, whose band The Pretty Reckless released an impressive debut LP
back in 2010. Equal parts rock, grunge and blues, the album showcased the then seventeen year old Momsen’s astonishingly powerful and versatile voice to great
effect. So much so, that expectations were rather high for follow-up LP ‘Going to Hell’.

HalestormThe Strange Case Of… (2012)

Halestorm have unleashed their sophomore album ‘The Strange Case Of…’ The disc shows off the band’s diverse sound and ability to not only go from one end of the rock spectrum to another but to create a new spectrum entirely.

The album starts off with the single ‘Love Bites (So Do I),’ which is the perfect representation of Halestorm and a great showcase of frontwoman Lzzy Hale’s voice and badass wit.
The next track, 'Mz. Hyde,' is funky, complete with a little bit of synthesizer action. Even though it’s a bit poppy, it keeps a certain amount of edge and the lyrics provide that same sort of duality as well.

So, I saw this on some meme site and I'm stealing the idea shamelessly.

Create Album Cover Art

1. Go to Wikipedia. Click "Random Article" up to 5 times. Choose the best and that will be your band name.

2. Go to Wikiquote. Click "Random Page" up to 5 times. Pick the last quote's 2 to 5 words. Choose the best and that will be your album name.

3. Go to Flickr. Go to Explore and pick an image from the first 5 rows. That will be the album art image.

4. Pick you favorite Image editor, upload to an image host and share your result. Have fun.

Here's my first atempt.
