is this sort of thing possible with Samurize? it might be cool to have a little window showing what ERR is playing on the desktop, but as part of samurize instead.

Im quite the opposite there Kail, I think Nocturnal Rites improved 10 fold after their new vocalist (forgot his name), he has the perfect voice for metal. Just something about the older vocalist that make their sounds sound like its being recorded in a garage or basement or pool changerooms.

each to their own i guess.
4  General / Requests and Suggestions / Re: What happened to Album of the Week? on: February 27, 2006, 08:19:05 pm
thats true. It was great when it was The Black Halo, every song rocked, but I can imagine some people wouldnt like to hear the same song every couple of hours for a whole week, especially if they dont like that particular artist  Embarrassed
5  General / Epic Rock Chat / Re: Sonata Arctica.....live..... on: February 10, 2006, 02:20:03 pm
Wow impressive list. Went to see Sonata live in Japan, and it was a small place. The Japanese crowd dont go as wild as a western crowd, so while there was no mosh pitting etc, it was a wicked night, and i wasnt too far from the stage. Also saw nightwish in Tokyo, was good, much bigger venue although I was stuck near the back, pretty good. Wouldve loved to have seen In Flames around their Clayman days, they are a bit mellow these days. I was also meant to see Strato in Tokyo last month, but those plans fell through...

Havok, Im glad you say Opeth put on a good show, they are actually coming to my sleepy little town of Perth in Western Australia in mid April, and I just have to go!! No good metal acts ever come to perth, so it will be a first for me!!! cant wait. hope they play some older stuff too.

7  General / Epic Rock Chat / How did you come to listen to Metal? on: November 11, 2005, 02:48:28 pm
Ok this place seems pretty quiet of late, so I thought I might ask how everyone came to like metal music.

For me it was back in early high school, my mates used to listen to Def Leppard, and I kinda liked that. We then moved on to the usual Metallica/Megadeth stage before moving to Amorphis and more European based metal. About the same time, I used to listen to the "Dark Channel" on wednesday nights on this local radio station here before going to sleep, where they played Gothic and sometimes metal stuff. It was on that that I first heard In Flames, Whoracle. I was captivated.

I eventually bought all the In Flames and Opeth CDs and listened to them over and over, and got slightly bored of them, not knowing there was a whole new world of metal out there for me to discover.

It was actually in a movie theatre in Japan where I heard part of Strato's Infinity as the trailer for a Japanese movie. I loved it, but didnt know it was Strato at the time, so emailed the movie production company and found out that it was indeed Stratovarius. This reignited my passion for metal, and a short while later I stumbled on ERR, and havent looked back since. Through ERR I discovered Sonata Arctica, Nightwish etc and ended up going to Sonata and Nightwish concerts in Japan earlier this year.

During this time, some of my original mates have gone to more black metal stuff (Bolt Thrower, COB etc), but I cant stand that stuff and now I prefer Euro Power Metal and sometimes the gothic stuff. Im in musical heaven right now with ERR!!

How about you other people lurking here?

if all goes to plan I will be seeing Strat live in Tokyo in January! I saw Sonata earlier this year, so i will be able to make a comparison after that! Sonata rocks, most strat is good, but I think they are getting a bit old....inifite was the best!

9  General / Epic Rock Chat / Re: iam Glad that epic rock does not play death me on: October 06, 2005, 12:25:16 am
love the music that this station plays, but bands like Opeth are just fantastic. not into the screaching vocals like Bodom, but opeth is just quality stuff.

Ive got all their CDs here, so its no big loss, im more into power metal these days, and ERR is perfect for that!!
10  General / Epic Rock Chat / Re: Who likes Astral Doors???! on: September 11, 2005, 06:45:43 pm
Im with you man, Wuthering Heights is perfect with his vocals. I have heard snippets of their stuff before he joined, and its not the same....just with Astral Doors, he's not quite.....right for some reason!!

Its wierd that with Wuthering Heights, I turn the volume up, yet with Astral Doors, I feel like stopping winamp for about 5 mins until the next song comes up...even though its the same guy singing!
11  General / Epic Rock Chat / Who likes Astral Doors???! on: September 11, 2005, 04:37:52 pm
Astral Doors is playing now, and every time I hear them, I cringe.

I think the tunes are ok, but Johansen's vocals are so bad. He did a great job in Wuthering Heights; suited that style of music very well, but I dont think it goes well with the style or music played by Astral Doors.

I know everyone has their personal preferences...anyone else feel the same? I dont mean remove them from the playlist, as the guy does a great sweeper, but I still cringe every time...

haha I work at home everyday on the PC, and the best thing to give me inspiration on those slow does is.....ERR of course! I find I work so much quicker and accurately with ERR blasting away!! Good stuff!
13  General / Epic Rock Chat / Just heard Lunatica on ERR on: July 30, 2005, 03:34:14 am
Yup just heard their first song, brought up thier webpage to find some more info on them, and I am greeted with one of the most beautiful singers I have ever seen!!

Musically, similar to oratory/nightwish, but Tarja isnt really my type, this girl fronting Lunatica is amazing! Check them out!! Good music too, from what I heard just 5 mins ago!
