2  General / Album and artist reviews / RHAPSODY SYMPHONY OF ENCHANTED LANDS#2 on: January 19, 2006, 02:49:23 pm
For the past seven years or, to be more precise, since the opening tones of their sensational debut album, Legendary Tales, Rhapsody have been one of the most unusual phenomena of the current metal scene. The huge range of their creativity, the number of legendary compositions that the Italian band, with their primary members guitarist Luca Turilli and keyboarder Alex Staropoli, have released so far reached the climax with the new album Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret. A new saga has been born, one that takes the listener on a musical adventure featuring epic, fast metal tracks and sonic landscapes with stirring narrative. It is the debut of a new style of Heavy Metal music created by Rhapsody known as Film Score Metal. The massive production, led by Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli themselves was done in several studios throughout Europe; from England to Italy, from the Czech Republic and Belgium to Germany. Supported by appearances by more than a dozen international guest soloists and the entire Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra from the Czech Republic, a 50 piece choir as well as Christopher Lee - the grand seigneur of film and one of the most filmed actors in history, Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret will set the world of Symphonic Metal on fire.

5  General / Epic Rock News / MANOWAR Return With New Single In February06 on: January 19, 2006, 02:28:14 pm
MANOWAR's official website has been updated with the following press release:   Manowar have heard the call to arms! Bolstered and inspired by the incomparable support and devotion of their worldwide fan base, the Kings Of Metal are now ready to return to the fray with their brand new single 'The Sons Of Odin' on February 27. This 10-minute epic, in classic true metal style, sets the perfect tone for the impending release of the yet-untitled full-length album scheduled for April 3, 2006.The Sons Of Odin will feature Manowar?s patented, lion-hearted metal riffs mixed with arena-rock stomping grooves and orchestral arrangements. The single will also feature a remixed and re-recorded version of last summer?s first single 'King Of Kings', another fast and furious outing originally released only as a bonus on the band's latest DVD Hell On Earth IV.
The 2005 festival season marked Manowar?s most outrageous appearances to date, with the metal warriors headlining Europe's biggest festivals, including a three-hour-long concert at the Earthshaker Fest in Geiselwind, Germany. The band?s performance included a 200-piece choir and orchestra and special guest appearances by all former Manowar members. Encouraged by the rabid fan reaction, it seems clear that the upcoming Manowar album will feature a well-balanced combination of die-hard metal headshakers as well as monumental ballads in the vein of "Heart Of Steel" and "Courage".
Manowar will continue their Demons, Dragons and Warriors World Tour in Europe beginning in late March, featuring Italian epic-metal legends RHAPSODY as special guests and introducing the newest female-fronted superstar group HOLYHELL to the world.
Manowar has sold over eight million records worldwide. The last studio album Warriors Of The World reached gold status in Germany. The upcoming Manowar album will be released on the band?s own label, Magic Circle Music.

Dates on the Demons, Dragons and Warriors World Tour with Rhapsody and Holy Hell are as follows:

March 2006

10  General / Epic Rock News / EDGUY NEWS 2006! on: January 01, 2006, 05:31:09 pm
German melodic metallers EDGUY are currently rehearsing for their forthcoming world tour, which will feature the band's biggest stage set to date. In Europe, the limited first edition of the band's new album, "Rocket Ride" (due out January 20 via Nuclear Blast), will come out as a book version, featuring a photographic history of the group with never-before-seen pictures from their early days and one bonus track ("Land Of The Miracle", recorded live in Brazil).

Commented EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet: ""I can't tell how happy I am with the new album. The press seems to like it and the material kicks so much ass in the rehearsing room. Of course, it's the same old story, same procedure as every year, some people are confused or offended by a few song titles and the artwork, but that's fine with us! That's what metal is supposed to do. Confuse, offend, irritate! Remain exciting and unpredictable!!! The truest and most upright form of art you can get! As long as the music kicks! I think this is by far our best album because we dared a lot on a high-quality level. 'Hellfire Club' and 'Mandrake' had balls, 'Rocket Ride' has the testicles about the size of a sperm whale family. Sascha Paeth delivered the best production of his career so far and he can be proud of himself (and he is rich now! posted from heavymetal gladiator jan/2/2006
11  General / Epic Rock News / HAMMERFALL ?news 2006 on: January 01, 2006, 05:23:52 pm
HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message at the band's official website:

Happy New Year! I can?t believe it?s New Year?s already, and the touring is over! We have been on the road on and off since April, so it has been the usual hectic year. And now, the next chapter is about to be penned; The songs for the new album. Actually, I can?t wait to dive head first into the composing, some of the material written so far is very promising. More on this as the song writing progresses. We wish you a Happy New Year, may 2006 bring you all fortune and glory. 12  General / Epic Rock News / BLIND GUARDIAN - 'Fly' Single Artwork on: January 01, 2006, 05:15:44 pm
BLIND GUARDIAN have posted the cover for their upcoming single, 'Fly',  The artwork was produced by Anthony Clarkson. Although an official release date has not been set, there will be three songs on the single: 'Fly', 'Skalds and Shadows (acoustic version) and 'In A Gadda Da Vida' (IRON BUTTERFLY cover).
About the single, frontman Hansi K?rsch said in a recent online post that it "will give you an idea of how much the songs on the album will be different from each other. To explore and invent something new - that's the thrill!!! What else can I tell you? We have not decided how the album will be entitled. Due to lyrical issues I am brainstorming with the word 'myth,' but that does not necessarily mean it finally will be used for the title. The two strongest titles from my point of view so far are: A Twist in the Myth, or Borderline Myth. None of them can be seen as confirmed. Sometimes you wake up and you just know: that's the title to go for. Mostly it is just a question of the right inspiration..."

15  General / Album and artist reviews / new Stratovarius cd 2005 album on: January 01, 2006, 04:33:38 pm
If your a Stratovarius fan of the old then this CD is not for you There is no heart, no Power, no Layering, No imagination, No.... there is nothing here.this CD was a absolute disappointment  i try to "listen to it more than once" well i have and i'm still shaking my head wondering what happened? Where are the "Tradmark Guitar & Vocal Melodies? The superb Double Bass Drum Drum work of Jorg Michael? The incredible dynamic's that have been their signature sound? This is NOT Euro Metal, sounds like their trying to sound American. The Single "Maniac Dance" is the worse song on the CD, not even a good Single B-side or Japanese Bonus Track. Well Timo T. says on the "Rockumentary" portion of the CD "This is the "NEW" Stratovarius" and apparently thats  why Timo K. re-joined the band. I guess maybe he wanted to go a more "Commercial" direction, and get away from the High range Vocals of the material of the past. Well they should take a listen to the new Nocturnal Rites CD to hear Melodic Metal with a commecial edge done right! I hate to say anything Bad about Timo T in light of his Personal problems he's had to try to get through the last few years, but i just don't hear any Heart in his playing here. Just sounds like he's "Going throught the motions" The only time the guitar really stands out is when his solo comes up. Also, anyone interested in whatever happened with that female singer "Miss K" that the band signed right after Timo Kotipelto left before the band broke up? I can say that she does not appear on this album.  BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT!
this is the worst  Stratovarius album ever!!! let's hope the next Stratovarius album is not like this last one,
