James LaBrie of Dream Theater has announced his new solo album "Static Impulse" is due out September 28th via InsideOut Music. You can now check out the new song "One More Time" via Noise Creep.

"Musically speaking, 'One More Time' is sort of a marriage of old-school progressive elements and modern melodic death metal," guitarist/keyboardist Matt Guillory told Noisecreep. "We wanted to have a drastic contrast between what's going on in the verses and what's going on in the choruses. There's almost a pop feel near the end where both James' vocals and my vocals start layering in different ways. Lyrically, the song is about dealing with the loss of a loved one."

(I like LaBrie's vocals but the other guy....?  Ack!)

ACK is right, Valerie!!! The other dude needs to STFU and let LaBrie take care of the vocals! I really liked the song - and hats off to James LaBrie for doing something that isn't a carbon copy of DT. I mean, why go solo if you're just going to mindlessly duplicate your band's stuff? I can't wait to hear more, I assume this one will be added the minute it comes out.  Grin

"Static Impulse" is fantastic! I am loving this album. Labrie sounds fantastic.

I hope that their plans to do a tour to support the album end up happening. I will definitely make the effort to get to a show.

Are you sure we are listening to the same song? I find myself humming the chorus to the song 3-4 times a day lately. The melody is fantastic.

DREAM THEATER Singer Announces Solo Tour

DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie will embark on a North American solo tour this winter. LaBrie wll perform material from his side project MULLMUZZLER as well as his two solo albums, 2005's "Elements Of Persuasion" and his newest CD, "Static Impulse", which was released last week via InsideOut Music.

Commented LaBrie: "[Keyboardist] Matt [Guillory], [guitarist] Marco [Sfogli], [drummer/vocalist] Peter [Wildoer], [bassist] Ray [Riendeau] and I are extremely psyched to announce a tour in support of the new album, 'Static Impulse'. Added Guillory: "James, Marco, Ray, Peter, and myself are all really excited about touring the U.S. and Canada in support of our new album, 'Static Impulse'. The response we've been getting since the album was released has been so amazing. We can't wait to play this stuff live. This is going to be a lot of fun. We look forward to seeing everybody on the road!"

I really liked most of this song probably because I do like James LaBrie but have to agree with Lise about the other guy ("STFU", LOL) who ruined a perfectly good song.

BTW, I love that new pic LWB  Wink

James LaBrie's North American solo has been cancelled. All tickets are being refunded.

From his site...

Hey Everyone,

Yes it's unfortunately true. We ran into a big snag with immigration and work visas so at this point we had no option but to cancel. This is a big blow to all of us in the band. I feel sick about this. We have such an incredible band and there was nothing more we wanted to do than play this for the fans. It's not good no matter how u look at this. I am deeply sorry and will do all I can to make this up to you once we figure it out.

Peace,
James.
