Super random I know, but I think it would be cool to see other people's thoughts on this.

Okay, so let's say your life is a movie. What would be the soundtrack? The best way to do this is put your iPod or whatnot on shuffle.

...As you can see, I included links to every song.  If you happen to be curious why I picked a particular song and what it's meaning is for me, you may ask.  I'm feeling particularly open, this evening...

Opening Credits:  Wow, Kai... that is perfect... if anything would come close to the birthing process, Dr Who would surely be it!  Very cool!

Waking Up:  Begin the day with a friendly voice... how appropriate!

First Day at School/work:  Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball!  (Little man ready to take on the world... Awesome  choice!)

Falling in Love:  LMAO!  Ole!!!  Is it the holding the note for a long time?

Fight Song:   Great battle song with a great battle attitude!

Breaking Up:  What a very sweet song...lot's of feeling...   which I would never believe it if someone told me you like this song because you are Mr Epic Rock Melodic Progressive Symphonic Metal Radio Man!  Cheesy

Depression:  What an accurate portrayal of a depressed mind... ups and downs round and round.  Nice.

Life's OK:  Im not sure if I get this other than, stuck between here and there, pnut butter and jelly or darkness and light.   Grin

Mental Breakdown:  LMAO!  OMG!!!  I love this one!!!

Driving:  Great Metaphor!

Flashback:  '    (teardrop)

Getting Back Together:  What a beautiful song.... refreshing love... the world is bright again.

Wedding:  Very romantic!  (why o why did Freddie get taken from us?)  A true great!

Birth of Child:  A beginning... great choice, Kai!

Final Battle:  Flash!!!  AahaaA, King of the Impossible!   Just a man, with mass courage... Excellent!

Death Scene:  A superbly grand epic death!

Funeral Song:  Where's the metal!?!  Grin Cheesy Grin Tongue

End Credits:  Roll with the changes....another great metaphor but...  I gots to ask... why this song?  Special meaning to you?

Great choices Kailef!  Some of the songs I would've never thought you would choose... but alas... I have learned a little bit about you while listening to your life.   Grin Grin Grin  That was fun!

I'll respond where it seems you weren't certain why I made the selections.  :-)

Falling in love:  That song is totally awesome.  You just listen to it a few more times and it'll come to you.  See the emotion and feeling he puts into the words.  Ignore what he's really singing about, and imagine he's singing about how he longs so badly for someone who is just out of reach.

Funeral Song:  The metal isn't there, but...  Those guys are epic.  When they sing live (I've seen them) they do NOT USE MICROPHONES.  Just their voices.  The "hidden" message is their humanity.  What a human can do, with no tools, no instruments, no microphones, no digital effects - Just humans, singing with their voices and nothing else.  I want to be remembered not for what I did, but who I was.

End Credits:  My life is about changes.  So, that's the message that I would want conveyed at the end of the "movie of my life".  Ups, downs, unexpected losses, unexpected gains.  Usually, nothing happens the way you want it to happen.  The key to life is to "roll with the changes".  Once you lock your mind around a certain thing having to "always be that way", you stop living and growing.  No matter what the scope of the loss or gain, you have to live.

Breaking up:  That song really gets me, despite it having exactly 0% metal in it.  Once again, it's the emotion in the singing that attracted me to it.

Life's OK:  The song, in my mind anyhow, is about how one can be surrounded by what appears to be chaos, opposing forces, but if you trust in yourself and your friends, you can make the right decision.  One would think that a cheerful song might be the right choice for this, but for me, "choosing to do the right thing" is what makes life OK, and that's what the song is about.

Those were really great choices, Kailef!  It was as if you were already sitting on those particular songs, as if you already knew those answers before CrystallineHeart posted this thread, which incidentally was a great idea, Rogie  Grin Grin Grin

It would take me a lifetime trying to figure out what songs to choose for my Life's Soundtrack with so many options out there... but it's very entertaining reading about other's, who seem to already know theirs.

hint hint:  Kai's idea of posting the YouTube links with each phase of life, was outstanding!

That's right, actually - I immediately knew the song for just about every one of the choices, except for "Birth of a child" and "First day at school/work".  I had to think about those for a while.

Quick random note of music dorkiness to anyone who may not know: this is true of all classical/opera singers, even in some fairly large opera houses. But even in that world, Chanticleer are indeed well-known for always sounding great, no matter what they sing. I'd gladly second a recommendation on them  Smiley

Mine is not random.

Opening Credits: Stratovarius "Destiny" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-ER5---jSk

Waking Up: A piece I wrote called "Fresh Nectar: A Waggle Dance" (A recording exists, but it's not as good as I'd like it to be, and nobody's uploaded it to the internet yet. And yes, waggle dance. Bees do it. Look it up.)

First Day At School/work: Masada "Lachish" (I can only find a short clip of this one) http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/window/media/page/0,,300866-2645652,00.html

Falling In love: Queen "I Was Born to Love You" (I swear I've been keeping this in mind since before I saw Kailef's answers! Also, mine's the full band version, so there.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMGjN8-9IG0

Fight Song: Derek Sherinian "Axis of Evil" (featuring Zakk Wylde and Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar, Jerry Goodman on distorted electric violin, Billy Sheehan and Tony Franklin on bass, and Simon Phillips on drums. Quite the coalition!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj3NUHHXfhM

Wedding: Ludwig van Beethoven, Symphony No. 8, Movement IV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KGtUkW3dBM

Birth of Child: Herbie Hancock "Sly" (to me, this song has always sounded like a representation of the labor/birth process) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3vhl88j9jg

Final Battle: Yngwie Malmsteen "Far Beyond the Sun" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvce39OW8tY
