Hello and happy almost-birthday ERR! I have enjoyed listening to this station for several years now, and also the shout-box interaction. I haven't participated in the forums, but I was thinking about ideas and wanted to submit a suggestion. How about something like throughout the day randomly putting a song in the queue of some type of theme such as, an album that was new released at that time?

We actually used to do something like that.  We had an "Album of the day" where the system automatically selected music from a particular album, or particular sort of theme.

But then, we just started doing it with the request system and letting the listeners do it.  :-)  It's less fun since we turned off the dedications, but we were having problems with people abusing the dedications and putting things into their dedication text that were not appropriate.  :-/

Brainstorming:

What about a web session with webcams.
You could party alone, with friends and maybe some listeners meet to party.
All in All everybody could join and the Party last 24h.

and maybe there are some contacts to band members who join the SB.

....

add more ideas :-)

So the link Kailef posted is a definite? I hope I'll be free for I don't want to miss something that EPIC. I don't really know how Google hangouts work, but a day-long webcam session with ERRors in band t-shirts and other epic-rock-related stuff sounds great! Maybe if we agreed on each of us creating something to celebrate (and I'm not talking cakes) we could present it to others that way.
What do you think about a DIY project sort of thing?

It looks like we can't do a day, it forces each one to be no longer than eight hours.  Maybe we'll have to do three?

So awesome to have watched this little project of yours grow into something so impressive, Kailef.

An immense thank you for all these years of sweet, sweet music. With all these listening hours clocked in, you can be certain you've been having an impact on people's lives. That's what keeps us coming back time and time again.

Long live ERR!  Grin

Great to see you!  It's not the same without my favorite compressed image format around.  :-)

To be certain that I'll physically be able to attend, I've set the event to happen from 6 PM until 9 PM Pacific time on July 14th.  If that doesn't work for those of you who are in time zones that are far away, we can try to set something up the day before, on Sunday - I'll probably be free for the whole day, then.

Let me know.  If I don't hear anything, I'll leave it how it is.

well, 6pm-9pm PST...if I did the math right, that would be 2am-5am CET, that means most of the european listeners probably won't be there. And yes I know it will always be in the middle of the night somewhere Wink

Well, maybe we can get one of our European admins to run a second event in prime time over there.  That'd be nice.  I think maybe I should figure out if there's a time on Sunday that we can do it - That way I am a lot more flexible with time since I (probably) won't have to work.
